Hi Dibbers,

virgin poster here, need some help on villa location.
Choice is between Highlands Reserve 3 bed villa ( virtual tour looks very good) versus a 4 bed @ Rolling Hills ( website does not market villa well).
3 young ones (5,3,1), going for New Year any useful advice and tips most welcome.

p.s First time driving in US!

Welcome Shaz!
Can't help you with Rolling Hills, I'm sure someone will be able to. We stayed on Highlands Reserve in March this year and really enjoyed it. If you play golf it's even better, was just $15 a round! There is a really good Publix & Pizza place next door to it as well.

rolling hills is nearer the parks ,with young kids you might want to take a midday break so it would be more convenient at RH

Hi Shaz

We've just booked our villa for Oct in Highlands Reserve. I've trawled these boards and haven't heard anyone say anything negative about it. Can't help with Rolling Hills though.

Ann,
You mentioned that you can play golf for $15, my husband is very interested. Do you get that rate just because you are in a villa on the complex or is there anything special we need to do?

Thanks

we stayed at rolling hill's on our first trip. it is only 10mins from wdw and is located 1 mile up the road from the spendid china turn-off on the 192. Great place to stay with plenty of shops/restaurants nearby!!!!!

Highlands Reserve is wonderful and only 10 mins from the parks if you use the "back door". If you want a virtual tour of a 4 bed,2 bath pool & jacuzzi home that we have rented before (and are returning to at Xmas) then PM me and I will send you the link. Its British owned and very nice.

Good luck!!

We stayed at Highlands Reserve in 2002 - had a great villa overlooking the 10th Fairway.

Me and DS played golf once at this course during our stay - it was $40 each but this included club hire and a buggy. This isn't bad really when you pay £20 to play a public course in this country without club hire or buggy!

It's a good course - quite undulating (unusual for Florida!) and HUGE bunkers....I mean HHUUGGEE!

Well woth it if you get time - take plenty of drinking water - it was 3.00p.m. when we played and 95 degrees - the two bottles we had lasted for the first two holes!!!

Loved Highlands Reserve - have a great holiday.

Hi RonaldMcMouse

Thanks for the golf info, I have passed it onto my husband. He agrees that $40 is a bargain for course fees, club hire and buggy.

Sounds like quite a challenging course. I think he'll definitely have a game or two there during our two weeks, especially as it's on your doorstep.

Thanks again for the info.

We have stayed at Highlands Reserve it is a good location and a well kept community. Rolling Hills is closer to the parks and a much better choice of shops and restaurants close by Mystic Dunes golf course is only 2 mins drive from Rolling Hills.I would choose Rolling Hills because its nearer to everything, but as you have young children I would also think about the facilities in the actual villa. Some villas have cots, high chairs etc included in the price while others charge extra or do not provide these. This may help your decision.
