Has anyone ever stayed in the above resort?

I was looking through {villa rental website removed - please refer to forum guidelines} and found a lovely 3 bedroomed condo/townhouse. This seems to be sooo much cheaper than a villa and would be ideal for us if it just ends up the 2 of us going!

Can anyone give me any info on the resort itself? It certainly looks lovely - plenty pools, man-made beach etc :D

What is it you want to know Redrach?

We stayed there 2 years ago and we are going again in just a few weeks. We stayed in a 2 bedroomed condo on the first floor in building 22 near to the beach. We found this an ideal location as there was a pool, pool bar (with tv for the kids to watch their sport!!), a little shop which sold pool things and ice-cream), Tradewinds restaurant (but we only went once for a freebie breakfast), man-made beach by the lake and a jetty going on to the lake for fishing.

Around the resort are about 2-3 other small pools and then the largest pool is near the clubhouse in the centre of the resort. Again, there is another bar with tv, a games room, spa & beauty salon, a small shop which sells essentials, photo processing and cinema. Apart from the games room and the pool & bar at the clubhouse, we didn't go there too much or use any of the other facilities as we mainly went to our nearest pool at the lake.

The apartments themselves are very spacious and clean and have all the facilities of a villa only you have communal pools. There is a washer, dryer and dishwasher in every apartment plus just about everything you could need. I think the only thing you can't do is BBQ.

We love it as we don't really like villas - we feel too cut off and isolated but at least with a communal pool, you feel like you are on holiday with people having drinks, chatting and meeting other people. The boys usually make friends with others - in fact eldest DH got all his fishing tips from somebody on the fishing jetty who was from Poole in Dorset.

Location wise, it is about a 25 mins drive to Disney, probably about 40-45 to Universal. Nearby is a Publix, Applebees, Walmart, chinese takeaway to name a few, but only a 10-15 min drive along the US192 and there are LOTS of restaurants to choose from. We would usually visit these on the way back to the villa after a day out but it was no trouble at all going to them if we had spent the day at the resort.

Anything else?

Hi DW and I stayed there end of April to mid May this year and enjoyed it (rented direct from an owner) and most of its points have been covered above. Ours was a 3 bedroomed ground floor condo just to the left after the entrance. Although we got a fabulous deal Dw found that as the pool was not covered the local wildlife took a fancy to her so I expect it will be back to a villa.
Didn't really eat onsite apart from a couple of nights at the clubhouse and then only beer and pizza not too bad.
Big advantage going to the parks is to turn left on exiting go to the next crossroads and left again and after a couple of miles you are on the 192.
Publix nearby on Hwy 27 south with an Applebees and other restaurant and take aways. Walmart and Winn Dixie on Hwy 27 heading north. We used to stop at the Publix or the new super Target on the 192 for our provisions. Plenty of eating stations on the 192 so you won't go hungry.

I think Batley Boy sums it up pretty perfectly.

The only thing I'll add is that if you are booking Bahama Bay independent of flights then it may well be worth 'shopping' around to get a good deal.

For instance, there are 2 Bahama Bay websites where you are able to book condo's. A UK one and a US one. So compare prices. You'll find these websites by googling Bahama Bay Orlando. One is a .com for US site and .co.uk for the UK one. These are two websites where a management company advertises condo's on behalf of owners.

When you google BB you will also get a list of other websites where independent owners advertise their own specific condo's which can work out a bit cheaper than the above two.[You might have to go on to the next google page in some cases].

You simply have to read info about the condo and if so e-mail them about availability and a price. This is what I did this time last year for our holiday in April. You will save a bit of money by doing this.

Good luck in choosing.

There is also an owner on the Dibb (Source) who can give you more info.

We will be there for the fourth time on Sunday and just love the place.

Disney is now much closer thanks to the new roads which have been built.

We stayed there a couple of years back. The apartments are nice and spacious. We had one of the 3 bed grand apartments.
Only used tradewinds resturant once, for the free breakfast included with the deal - this was OK.
Never used the pool or other facilities as we went out to the parks every day.
Location is alright, as other have mentioned, Walmart and other stores are nearby, but nothing is really near enough to walk to.
