View Full Version : Ripsaw Falls
Can anybody let me know if the drop on Ripsaw Falls is worse than Splash Mountain. My daughter's been on Splash loads of times but won't go on Ripsaw Falls.
Thanks for your help
Stu
..it's faster, (read 'steeper'!) IMO, and wetter!:D
Yep, its certainly faster than SM.:D

Much faster and wetter and a bit boring on the way to the top so you have plenty of time to THINK about the drop!!
Much faster and 10 times wetter - bring your poncho and a 2nd pair of socks and shoes. You will be even more soaked on Popeyes ride!

Hi Stu
Yes, Ripsaw Falls is more extreme than splash mountain and my daughter hurt her back on it when she was about 8 years old and won't go on it again. In addition, you WILL get very wet!! Having said that, a tremendous flume ride.

yep faster and much wetter
We thought RipSaw falls was the best water ride we'd been on. Much steeper and faster than Splash Mountain. You will get soaked!:p:
Colin.
I thought ripsaw was scarier as no one is sitting next to you (Yes i am a coward!) also it broke down twice while we were on it, the second time just before the drop which really put my nerves on edge
i'll stick to splash mountain (with eyes closed) in the future

I love Ripsaw falls, overall it isn't as good as Splash Mountain but the drop is brilliant. The reason it is so good is because it gets gradually steeper on the way down. DW always thinks she is going to fall out hehehe (which won't happen btw). It's great and the anticipation as you edge towards the drop is superb - "I can see my house from heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere".

I agree with seems steeper, but a smoother finish as it is on coaster wheels and not the thudish splash as the mountain!....she will want to do it again if she goes on it

I remember our first trip to IOA well. It was cool, as it was Nov/Dec and early evening just befor the park closed. I said ' Hey dad lets go on Ripsaw falls its only a log flume, you don't get wet on log flumes just splashes'.
Well we got in the log, set off, went round a corner and down a little dip and the water just came right over the side, we were soaked and we hadn't even done the drop!!!
After the ride, which was absolutely brill, I had to buy us both sweatshirts cos it was my fault we had rode and we were freezing... brrr but I thought it was worth it.

I was disappointed with Ripsaw - I thought the themeing and overall 'experience' of Splash mountain was soooooooo much better.
RF is wetter and faster, for sure. Though for big thrills, I thought that the Journey to Atlantis at Seaworld gave more - a combination of RF and SM??

We`ve never been on this ride, but me and our youngest son got soaked on the Jaws ride!! We were towards the front on the left and to say our backsides were soaking is an understatement. We then went and sat down on a bench that was boiling hot from the sun. The result was a sizzling noise and all this steam rising up!! What a sight!! We sat there for a little bit and then walked round and the sun soon dried us off. Until we were dry though, it wasn`t pleasant walking round with soaking wet shorts and pants. Hubby and eldest son thought it hysterical.

Ripsaw Falls has more screamability - but queueing on a HOT day was tough -
Splash Mountain - better scenics - and drop was still a scream!!
DO BOTH :p:

We only got to go on this once on our last trip as the line was so huuuge! But I can honestly say that I have never been on a better flume ride, I would say that you get wetter on this ride than any other water ride in any of the parks!!!! And that is saying something!:D
Prepare to get absolutely drenched - even with waterproofs done right up and wrapped tightly around me, I was soaked to the skin - definitely take spare clothes including underwear - takes ages to dry even in July heat - walked around all day with wet knickers (very uncomfortable).

We went on the Bilge barges, Ripsaw Falls and Jurassic River Adventure one after another so were drenched.
But we'd worn quick drying shorts and soon dried out.
The best bit after Ripsaw Falls is putting quarters in the water squirters on the bridge after you've got off and drenching the people who've worn ponchos on the ride, done the big drop and think they're now safe and look all smug.
Wicked, I know but so much fun !!
