Scare factor on rides

On reading through the Unofficial guide, it really hypes the scare factor on many rides.

Dinosaur, Snow White, Star Tours, Body Wars, Great Movie Ride, in addition to the obvious Mission Space, Rock n Rollercoaster, Space Mountain are all classed as either inducing motion sickness or scaring kids.

Are they as scary as the guide suggests?.

That would depend on what you define as scared.

Dinosaur is dark and very loud
Snow White has a scary witch in it
Star Tours and Body Wars are both simulators and can be nauseating (SP?)
Great Movie Ride has some live acting with gun fire

All or some of which may frighten some people. I guess its just gauging what you all like and what may upset some of your party. I suppose if you have young chilren you need to be aware of this but if you are adults or older children then you would be fine. You might not like it but it wouldn't be too bad.

Dinosaur scared me - makes you jump at the end. DS then 8 hated it and hasn't been on since!

Snow White has a witch in it that makes you jump. Totally spoils it for little ones IMHO.

Star Tours and Body Wars are a bit rough - BW is the worst, probably because you can't "look" long distance into the film - it's all inside blood vessels etc. Personally teacups make me feel worse!

I think the Unofficial Guide is pretty accurate going from the reactions of my DS, niece and nephews.

The only ride I found genuinely scarey at the WDW parks was Tower of Terror - very few people can resist the urge to scream.

Most of the other thrill rides are only mildly scarey for adults or just plain uncomfortable. Presumably the Walt Disney Company takes the precautionary approach when describing the possible adverse effects of the ride to avoid getting sued.

I was more scared than my kids 8 and 10 were. The worst rides I went on had to be the Kracken, I just closed my eyes and wished it was over all the way round and it seemed to take forever. Rock and Rollercoaster at the beginning scared the life out of me a first but Mission Space was a doddle I loved it but other 1/2 and kids hated it and felt sick for ages but then again they all get car sick and I don't.
