Disney's Vero Beach Resort remains closed to allow for a complete assessment of the impact from Hurricane Frances on the property. Guests with arrivals through September 30, 2004, are being contacted.

Effective immediately, the Hotel Royal Plaza in the Walt Disney World Resort will be temporarily closed; no reservations are being accepted through February 28, 2005.

Latin Rhythm Nights/Al Ritmo de Noches Latinas, featuring salsa, mariachi and Norteno music, will be held starting at 8 p.m. September 22 on the Downtown Disney Pleasure Island West End Stage. Headliners include Oscar D'Leon, Grupomania and Victor Manuelle. The event will be taped live for two television specials to be aired on the Telemundo Spanish Language Network later this year. There is no admission charge for the concert.

Disney Cruise Line Deposit Policy Change Effective 9/8/04:

The required deposit for all Disney Cruises in the extremely popular suite category has increased. For three- or four-night cruises, the deposit has changed from $200 to $400. For six- or seven-night cruises, the deposit has increased from $250 to $500. And, for cruises that are 10 or more nights in length, the deposit has increased from $250 to $700. In addition, the deposit for room categories 4-12 has increased on cruises that are 10 or more nights in length from $250 to $350.

Deposits for suites for all cruises are now required within three days of booking rather than seven days. Deposits for staterooms in categories 4-12 are required in five days rather than seven days.

Final payment for suites is changed from 60 days to 90 days, and final payments for staterooms in categories 4-12 has changed from 60 days to 75 days for three to seven-night cruises, and from 90 days to 75 days for 10+ night cruises.


Frontierland Shootin' Arcade in the Magic Kingdom will be closed September 18 through October 9, 2004.

The following Pleasure Island clubs have changed opening times due to private events on the dates below:

September 16 -- Jazz Club opens at 8:15 p.m.
September 19 -- Rock 'n Roll Beach Club opens at 9 p.m.
September 20 -- BET Soundstage opens early at 8 p.m.; Adventurers Club opens at 8:30 p.m.; Rock 'n Roll Beach Club opens at 12:15 a.m.; Motion opens at 12:15 a.m.

Contrary to previously published times, the Adventurers Club will have normal operating hours September 17-18.

As reported several weeks ago, Goofy's Country Dancin' Jamboree in the Magic Kingdom is being converted into a different "character experience." The current show closed September 4, and will reopen soon featuring Jessie, Woody, and Bullseye from Toy Story 2.

I hope the Goofy's .... Jamboree will be open for when we get there. I was planning on having a sandwich there one lunchtime whilst watching a short show.
