Has anyone stayed here recently? We had accommodation booked which we cancelled recently...long story.. tried to book other accommodation at the airport and all I could get was Britannia country house. Now I have read some pretty dire reviews of this hotel so I wondered if anyone has stayed there recently.
Not that there seems to be much I can do about it now as everything seems to be fully booked.:(

Not great, though for £80+ a night for 4 with car parking for 15 days, it did the job. Rooms okay, but could have been cleaner, carpet edges etc needed a good hoover, and the restaurant was awful.

We were there in October 2002 and were more than happy with it, nice clean rooms and an excellent carvery in the restaurant.
The breakfast was good too.
I would stay there again, no problem.
If you go to the airport first as we did, go to customer service desk to ask about the courtesy bus

This was the hotel who had a mini bus involved in a fatal accident las year, inquest found numerous faults on the vehicle which had been overlooked by the hotel.....maybe a taxi would be the best option!!!!!!!!!

Tried Bewleys and they had nothing that would have been my first choice.
Oh no, we have booked to stay here the night before our holiday (with the transfer to the airport:eek: )

We stayed here a couple of years ago and although it wasn't the Ritz it was OK. That said you're only in the room for one night anyhow so it's not really much of a problem.
Don't worry about it - just keep thinking of what the next day will bring ;0)

We've stayed here a couple of times. The first time was October 2000 and it did the job. The last time was August 2002 and it was far too busy. The rooms were not cleaned properly and our room wasn't big enough for a family of five. They did however give us a second room next door for the children at no extra charge. Our main complaint was they didn't have enough room for our car, but again they did their best and provided us with a voucher for the airport parking. This meant us taking our car in the morning to the airport, not ideal but we preferred it in the end. All in all if you have a complaint they are quick to respond.
I can imagine the less busy months are an okay time to stay here but I woudn't stay here again at peak times.

We stayed there end of July this year. Family room plus parking. £105 we where lucky to get one of the new refurbished rooms. The hotel was okay, it served it's purpose one night before flying out to Florida:wink :wink :wink :wink

we stayed june this year. room was shabby restaurant was poor but you get what you pay for. they now issue a voucher for car parking with good directions how to get there and you drive yourself to the car park which was right next to the airport. overall would use this hotel again but only for the one night.

we stayed there 4 years ago and the bed was wet with beer!!!!
we got a room change and a free voucher to stay again . which we used a year later.
the room was a bit tired but it was ok . the food in the diner was awful .
have you tried the marriot . that is realy nice as is the pool and the food was good . try booking through
www.holidayextras.co.uk .
we got a room for £80 .it was big with 2 doubles and a sofa bed . they also mini bus you to the airport.
if not dont despair , the other is ok and how much are you going to sleep anyway:jump:

This hotel was in the Manchester Evening News last year I think it was because they found slugs in the food store and kitchen. Most Brittania hotels are the pits. The one in Manchester centre has rooms with no windows but has a skylines of various cities where the window should be.

I can't believe the Britannia hotels are so poor now..I used to work in the city centre one in Manchester when I was a student in the early 1980s and it was lovely then...mind you I never saw the rooms, only the bars and the restaurants, but the reception area was lovely with an impressive staircase. The behind the scenes areas were a dump though, so I can well believe the slugs report!
