View Full Version : Help - what Deluxe resort ?
Help.
We can't decide what too do.
During last years holiday we stayed for 2 nights at AKL and loved it (used AP discount). This year we want to do a similar thing, i.e. a couple of nights at a deluxe resort in the middle of the holiday. The trouble is we can't decide where to go. I've narrowed it down to Wilderness lodge and Beach club. We have two children aged 7 and 4 and both resorts have unique attractions.
WL - close to MK, see the Electrical water pagent, much cheaper than BC
BC - close to Epcot and MGM (never walked into Epcot via the international gateway before or caught a boat to MGM),
Stormalong bay - looks really good is it ????.
I know the obvious thing to do would be stay at both but we also have 2 nights at RPR booked near the end of the holiday so thats not really an option.
Any insights, recommendation are really welcome, also feel free to confuse me further and suggest other resorts that I should possible consider.
Thanks.

Tough one Cat. I haven't stayed at either but the WL very similar to AKL (minus the animals) where as BC would be completely different resort.
We have walked from there to the international gateway at Epcot and it is a very pleasant 5 minute stroll plus the pool looked great.

I would opt for BC but it is quite a bit more expensive than WL.
the location totally appeals to me, as does the light bright airy look, rather than the dark wood look of WL. Also the proximity of the Boardwalk would be a big plus too.
I think given the ages of your kids, the pool at BC would be a huge plus.

I would go for the BC as it is close to MGM and EPCOT plus Stormalong Bay looks fab!! :D :D
WL is lovely but very similar in design to AKL, albeit a NorthWestern US theme.
Claire :wink
We've stayed at the Yacht Club (next to the Beach Club) and the resort is fabulous. Stormalong Bay really is something else, if you've got children it's definitely the one to go for. Plus you've got the added bonus of being able to walk to the Boardwalk (restaurants) and Epcot.

ditto to all that;) we stayed at WL and I would say its more suited to adults than small children. the boat ride to MK is lovely but the bus service is very erratic to the parks and it can feel isolated (which we loved).
The BC appeals becuase of its central location to the parks and Boardwalk facilities:)

Beach Club definitely. It's just gorgeous :)
Thanks for the feedback everyone.
Beach Club was my favoured choice, however we made the mistake of talking to the kids about Disney Hotels and DD wants to stay by MK. So this is leaning me towards WL or even the CR as the Poly and GF are a bit too much. Anybody know what the Garden view rooms are like at the CR as we probably can't afford the tower.

We stayed in the CR for one night this year and loved it so much that we are going back for 5 nights next year. We had a tower room but have a Garden room booked for next time. The rooms are exactly the same size it is only the view and the "convenience" of being in the tower. I think we will actually prefer the wings.
The kids loved the pool and the beach which was almost empty in the mornings and late afternoons. It was a 5 minute walk to MK and even without a MK tower room you can see the fireworks from a viewing area on the 4th floor or better still see them in the MK and walk back to the CR afterwards.
Garden wings are fantastc - trya nd get a ground floor Lagoon view: -

Just got off the phone to Disney. Got 2 nights booked at the CR with AP rates (standard room $149 + tax per night...not bad).
Should I have gone for the Garden view for another $41 + tax a day ????.

I'd leave it as it is and ask for an upgrade if you think you want one when you get there - after all the extra $91.42 you'd pay for the upgrade could go towards a nice meal
Have a great stay there :D
Just booked MNSSHP for the 12th, not too far back to the room now:D :D
Struggled to get Breakfast in Chef Mickeys though :( , Only 11:10 left.
Guess we'll treat it as early lunch:wink
