What was your best/worst meal
BEST
our best was Perkins on our way to the airport, nice setting, good service, good food and reasonable prices, I wish we'd tried this earlier in the holiday
WORST
and our worst was the all you can eat Coney Island seafood buffet on 192, the seafood was plentiful but poor quality, the rest of the family don't like seafood so had chicken/fajita etc and each of their meals were very poor
also the sourroundings of the restaurant didn't help

Best Meal was at Jiko at the AKL, we had Duck Firecracker and a salad with watermelon dressing to start and for main course I had curried shrimp and DBF had a braised Lamb shank. The meal was delicious.
Worst meal was at Pondorosa, it was lukewarm and not tasty.
Good question - I'll get back to you on this one. It needs some serious thought! :D

Worst -ponderosa horrid cold limited need I say more!
Best race rock -chicken fettucia and the infamous bursting onion.
Best - Mythos/Akershus - cant choose!
Worst - thats easy -Beaches and Cream. It was so disgusting I cant even think of words to describe it. Its the closest I ever got to walking away.
Margaret
Best, Liberty Tree Tavern WDW
Worst, McDonalds I Drive.

Worst was clearly the dinner menu at Las Vegas buffet on 192 - I've never sucked on bones, for spare ribs, in the USA before. Although fairly busy food was rarely replenished until most of the offerings were empty. ( I also have simpathy for the vote against Dixie Stampede)
Best is definitely the Golden Coral breakfast on the first morning of the hoildays - I've waited 12 months for it!

Best = Bahama Breeze (we didn't go there until the last night of our holiday - such fools  ) won't be making that mistake again :D
Worst = Chinese Takeway (the one near publix on the US27) I ordered a vegetable chow mein and was given one with meat in it!
The wordt service was definately in Hard Rock Cafe last May. The server really could not be bothered at all. Food was good though.

Best Meal - Rainforest Cafe in Downtown Disney (Planet Earth Pasta and Pastalaya Chicken)
Worst Meal - Burger and Fries from the Pop Century food court (too greasy!)
Worst - Captain Cooks at the Poly. It was called a pork sandwich but it tasted like old mattress and the bun was stale :(
And the fries were cold. And the servers were grumpy. :grumpy:
Best - Much more difficult to choose...... OK I'll go with Citricos at the Grand Floridian. Great setting, great service and really delicious food. They make the best Martinis too :cocktail:
I'll second that about Citricos and their martinis!:) (and food)
worst for me.........hmmmmm....not had any really bad experiences but probably Ponderosa...
best...so many to choose from......but I think I'll go along with Citrico's.....or maybe Palm at hard Rock Hotel:)...both were absolutley fantastic and I'd love to go back one day:)

We've found most places on the 192 are fairly poor.
But Hard Rock was Good Fun and our server was great!
For us, in general the best is probably Rainforest Cafe but I had the most delicious meal last Saturday at California Grill at the Contemporary.
Worst was last year at Planet Hollywood. Needless to say, we didn't visit this year!

We don't rate any of the Planet Hollywood's we've been to but the one at DLP took awful to a new level.
Hard Rock Cafe is really not at all like PH and I quite like it. Give it a go.

The best by far - Emeril's Tchoup Chop at the Royal Pacific Resort - great atmosphere, great menu, great service, great cocktails......fantastic !
The worst - got to be Planet Hollywood at DD - what a bore !

Our best meals have been at Mythos - the coffee-crusted pork is my No.1 favourite meal ever, although the Mahi with plantain mash & black bean sauce was also spectacular.
Worst meal was at some all-you-can-eat buffet, possibly a Ponderosa. It was so bad I've almost erased it from my memory. It might have been cheap, but as it was laregly inedible I thought it was very poor value for money! Not a place I'll return to, and with the honourable exception of Boma I think I'll avoid all the buffet-style restaurants from now on.
Regards
Rob
Surprisingly Im going to give my BEST vote to TGi Fridays on Carrier Drive. We made several visits in June and it was delicious and very reasonably priced each time. We also had great food at The Olive Garden (as ever) and Tony Romas.
Worst had to go to Wild Jacks Steakhouse, which we have loved in the past but it was very bland, just a lump of steak and a dollop of mash on a plate, no veg or salad or dressing at all. It was also very expensive and the sevice was poor and slow. Its a shame because I used to love the place.
Alvin,
I agree TGI's on Carrier Drive is fabulous!

Worst was Chevys at Crossroads-for mexican food it really had little taste and the chicken was dry.
Best is harder-we had great meals at Chilis, Romanos Macaroni Grille, Charleys on I drive & Outback.
However we really really enjoyed the Thai noodle dishes at Islands restaurant in the Royal Pacific-I would recommend it to anyone who doesn't want to pay the prices at Tchoup Choup. The breakfast was also gorgeous there.

for 'snacks'
we enjoyed sbarro's in I -drive and Subway on I-drive and subway in beltz
Best onsite meal was at Le Cellier
Best offsite meal was at Darryls IDrive (we love this place)
Worst ever meal was at The Flying Fish at the Boardwalk - we had the most awful server (he was downright rude and treated us like something on the bottom of his shoe) plus my dad had fish that was so overcooked you couldn't even cut into it and we had to send it back.
When did you go to the FF Clare?
We had afantastic meal when it first opened. Sadly it was decidedly average when we returned in 2000. I think the prices are very high too!
We've had lovely meals at Le Cellier too. :jump:
Sue, we last went in 2001 - we had heard such positive reviews we thought we must give it a go. I don't know what it is like now but we were put off from giving it another go.

Worst meal has to be sizzlers or the one we had at the pirates dinner show.ponderosa or pondergrosser as it was to be lovingly named!
Hard to pick the best...so many, black angus steak, a place in ioa..a big hut looking building , we had ribs and chicken..lovely.And dennys was excellent for brekky
FF has been struck off our list for a while too Clare. :(
Too many decent places to try out or return too.
Threads like this one are really helpful - I love 'em! :jump:
best - defo bahama breeze!
worst (and the only bad one of the whole holiday) - Mama melrose at MGM - without a doubt! the food was disgusting and the service was terrible!!!!!!

Had great meals at Brown Derby, Don Pablos, Alfredo di Roma, San Angel Inn, Tony Romas (great Pina Colada), loved Rad Lobster and numerous others. Great breakfast at IHOP if you can endure the wait and also good at Crackerbarrel. Fast food - Wendy's Hamburgers. I could go on!!!
Didn't like Portobello Yacht Club and although had nice food at Denny's - were given lukewarm breakfast at one down HW27 on the way to Tampa where all the roadworks are.

Best - Has to be Bahama Breeze and Cafe Tu Tu Tango - both excellent - I just wished we had these at home.
Worst - was by far Ponderosa - the worst food I have ever had anywhere!
Worst meal - toss-up (almost literally) between Captain Nemos and the Magic Mining Company.
Best meal - Siam Orchid. They were great with the children, the setting is beautiful and the food just perfect. Only thing to watch for is that when they say 'hot', they mean 'HOT!!!!!!!!'

Best... Thats a really hard question possibly Key W Kools on 192- the steak was superb. Also like JTs Steakhouse going west on 192. We used to enjoy Damons at the Mercado but its closed and the one at Old Town isn't as good.
Worst... Again a hard question but would probably go for Sizzlers, although the food wa still edible.
BEST - Outback (Near Orlando Premium Outlets)
Worst - Bella Roma - pasta with a tin of tomatoes on top.
Hmmm Worst by a mile - Golden Corral Evening buffet - AWFUL!!
Best - House of Blues, Perkins, Taco salad from the food court at Riverside, Hard Rock, Gourmet pantry sandwiches.

BEST : my barbequed steak on our honeymoon by chef Davie :thumb:

Big problem we find is that these places are so variable. One day you get a good meal and you go back a few days later and its terrible. Very similar to the service these days.
For a quick and cheap meal the place where we probably have had the fewest complaints is the Orlando Ale House.
If I knew of any place that was good every time I would definitely keep quiet about it!!!!!!!

Absolute worst, Golden Corral, down 192 past walmart and close to Target.......we just nipped in here because we were tired after many hours in target (so it seemed) food was cold and greasy, put me off even trying GC for breakfast. Had a fab burger in US, and a yummeeeeeeee chocolate milk shake. Everything else was good

Best - Sam Seltzer's Steakhouse (http://www.samseltzers.com/) Fries, creamed spinach and the biggest fillet steak I have ever seen.
Worst - Planet Hollywood at DD. Mediocre food and poor service.
Worst Value - celebration meal at the Palm Restaurant in the Hard Rock Hotel. Decent food spoiled by overbearing service and definitely not worth $175 for the two of us!

Worst by far was the 'Passage to India', I don't care how fanatstic the reviews are, the awards and thr photos on the wall of celebraties who have eaten there it was awful. We had seriously bad food poisioning from here.
Best, very difficult to choose. We have had some expensive good meals and some cheaper ones. Its a tough choice between Fultons, Charleys and Siam Orchid (a truly place that seems to be virtually unknown).
Best/Worst meal on our last trip in August was...
Best - Rainforest Cafe (Pastalaya I think - really tasty)
Worst - The Outback - I hate to say it but it was disgusting, bad service, lukewarm and a really bad chewy fatty steak.
On other trips my most memorable meals have been at- Charleys, Pacino's, Vito's, Carabbas, Mythos, The Palm, Giordanis, Le Cellier.

Just back and have to update my list with Bahama Breeze - like many others and Texas de Brazil on I-Drive opposite Festival Bay Mall. It's basically a steakhouse but they come round with the barbequed meat on huge skewers and slice bits off for you. You start with a cold selection from the salad bar, then they thread through the tables offering 14 different types of meat served with garlic mash and sweet fried banana. Also had desserts to die for. A great night out and a bit different. Oh and Bill recommends the huge wine list with about 300 bottles - lots available by the glass and children under 6 eat free. Our carnivore daughter of 5 years loved it.
Pam.
Best: Expensive - California Grill, Others (can't choose one) Cheesecake Factory and Orlando Ale House
Worst: Another vote for fish and chips at Harry Ramsbottom's (I think!) at Epcot. I've had good ones here too - think it depends on how long they've been hanging around.
Best - Hotel Resturant at Hyatt (was expensive and a couple of days after a hurricane!) but I've never had a meal like it.
Worst - Sizzlers/Ponderossa (any branch) - Even boiled McDonalds burgers are better!

7 Nov 04, 07:23 PM
best - golden corrall breakfast/ 50's primetime cafe - mgm
worst- didnt really have any awful ones:)
BEST - Applebee's up the US27 at the villages. Even better than Boma's, hubbie wasnt impressed but it was nice to try it
Epcot's Morocco was good - we both try to avoid any burgers, chicken strips etc.
WORST - Tuskers in AK - I think we got the reject fruit from the gorillas!

8 Nov 04, 11:35 AM
Best - Race Rock. If you have a BIG appetite try "The King" a huge steak with trimmings cooked to perfection.
Worst - Popeyes Chicken and Biscuits. Service was abysmal with the idiot behind the counter mocking me for my accent. Should have walked out then but had already paid for what turned out to be a virtually inedible meal.

Best Meal
Charleys - expensive
Pebbles - moderate
Uno - cheap
Tu Tu Tango and Bahama Breeze - extra entertainment factor
Worst
ESPN - awful food, really spoiled it as I'd gone specifically on Monday night for the 'football'
Pondarosa - to be fair you get what you pay for
Shoneys on the 192 - OMG couldn't beleive it after it was recommended in the Brit book, truely the meal from hell
(on each of the occasions I didn't finish the meal and didn't pay for it, the managers were very accomodating)

best meal for us was the ESPN club on the boardwalk the food and service was great and also great value for money we have heard a lot of bad reports about this restraunt but when we went we were either very lucky or some people are very hard on this restraunt
The best evening meal- definately the B line diner in the Peabody hotel on I-Drive.We went there twice. For breakfasts Perkins is superior to Ponderosa or Shoneys by far.
Best:
The full breakfast at East Lake Fish Camp Resturant
Tony Roma's I-Drive
Worst
Dennys-Waited over an hour for a crappy meal
Ponderosa- To be blunt, it was crappy all round

Best - Main meal would be The Butchers Shop. I like my steaks well done and I have never had a fillet this tender!
Breakfast though I would say Waffle House :)
Worst - We were really diapointed by TGI Fridays on I-Drive, but the definite worst meal we had was at Jungle Jims. It didn't taste too great, and we both had dodgy tummys afterwards.

I haven't really got a favourite as there have been so many good ones.I really used to like eating at Morrisons until they closed.
My worst ever meal was at a Mexican called Taco Viva.We had decided to drive away from the touristy areas and somewhere off the Orange Blossom Trail we found what looked a really cheap restaurant. The food was awful and halfway through we saw a cockroach on the floor.Needless to say we didn't go back.
Best: buffalo wings followed by steak at Chuech Street Station.
Worst: NasCar at Universal - poor food and poor service.

The best meal would have to be at the Enchanted Oak Tavern in IOA, or the Golden Corral.
Without a doubt the worst would be at Planet Hollywood, Iain felt physically sick after his meal there and had to go outside early for some fresh air, while I waited to pay the bill. The service was also very very bad, they liked to serve the Americans before us.

Toss up between Outback and Ponderos both considered pap in our household, the latter gave me food posioning 15 years ago and would not give them a cent even now!
a bit harsh on ponderosa , comparing 15 years ago to now.

Snacks, Best was Chilli Dogs at Checkers. Worst was Walmart Sandwiches.
Breakfast, Best was the restaurant in the Rodeway Inn on I-Drive. Worst, Dennys nr Omni (2x servers having a standup fight by us re. whose table it was we were sat at - the food wasn't even anything to rave about - & the coffee was cold).
Dinner, Best was Outback.
Worst was Black 'just throw the Brits at the back nr the bogs & take the P**s out of our accents when you take our order please' Angus.
The waiter was as camp as they come & everyone for a five table radius squirmed when he announced 'I've got a huge piece of meat for you to chew on darlin' as the plates were thrown down.
To add insult, he brought a couple of bottles of vinegar & a bottle of brown sauce (neither requested) cause 'you guys shure like to ruin your food don't ya !! Maybe thats why he didnt get a cent as a tip.

WORST -
The main food hall at Disney PORS - food and atmosphere themed on a British transport cafe I think - except for the prices ! (but the resort itself we really liked  - so do stay there ! )
Dinner at Arabian Nights (mine came complete with a human hair eeuuukkkk ! :omg: - no wonder they have you eat in the dark !!!)
Dinner at Pirates Dinner Show (awful food /awful service....show wasn't great either !:( )
Chevys at Crossroads
That huge McDonalds on I-Drive (others were OK)
BEST-
Rainforest Cafe at DTD (a bit over priced but we enjoyed the theming !)
Sizzlers for breakfast (near Crossroads) ...we LOVED it !!! :tounge:
Overall, I don't think I was over impressed by anywhere...thats why we're getting a villa this time !

Best = Le Cellier, Epcot,
Worst=Ponderosa 192 near old town (not so much the food but the freaky waitress and the rest of the punters made for an awful experience)

Mmmmm :tounge: best for us was a toss up between Don Pablos on I Drive - excellent mexican food plus fantastic mojitos - and Teppanyaki at Epcot for the experience.

my best meal well there are so many but i have to say the first time we went to Norbys in lake wales running very very close second but maybe even joint first is the outback on the 192 :tounge: :tounge:
my worst meal was a little italian restaurant on the 192 west mainly because the waiter was awful and basically through the food at us and then ripped us off with service charge
Best meal was the Brown Derby, really nice food.
Worst would have to be Mamma Melrose, the restaurant was freezing everbody was sat around in ponchos to try to warm up(this was in July), the food was cold, really slow service, waited 30 mins just for our drinks!.Bill came quick enough, before we had finished eating.
All the food tasted the same, very heavy on the garlic- even the dessert
Never again

Will only comment on last trip (October), as anything previous is likely to have altered
Best Hard rock Universal (might be biased as I always head for Hard Rock)
Honourable mentions Red Lobster and Olive Garden on the 192 near Old Town
Worst Tony Roma's at the downtown end of the 192 Kissimmee
This one seemed to mainly cater for local residents, the whole place was shabby, chipped formica etc, waitress was absoloutly useless, all the locals received their food long before us; another waitress took pity on us noticing we had been waiting forever and fetched our meals, which unsurprisingly were stone cold; we would have rejected them but we never saw the waitress for 15 minutes, the manager probably sensing a problem asked if we were ok, on complaining he gave us a discount. waitress then came back and moaned that we hadnt told her first. Ordered a second beer which never arrived either. Departed leaving no tip
Worst - Bongo's - Downtown Disney, the menu was great, and we love garlic, but OMG the food was overloaded with it!!! We must have reeked for ages ... (v.belated apologies to anyone who was on our flight home back in 2001)
Best - so many, we love Tony Roma's in LBV (although I believe it has now closed?), Olive Garden, Denny's for Breakfast, Rainforest Cafe, etc etc!
Hopefully I will be able to add Bahama Breeze onto the Best list, after we try it in March!

Tony Roma's at LBV closed:cry:
It was open in September and doing a roaring trade:confused2
All the food tasted the same, very heavy on the garlic- even the dessert
We all love garlic, but I think that would be just a bit to much :omg:

Best Pacinos 2002 gorgeous food and garlic bread to die for
Worst Pacinos 2005 one of the worst meals of the holiday cold slimly spaghetti, a tin of chopped tomatoes for a sauce and oil with a few dried herbs to go with dry bread the place must have had new management it just shows how a restaurant can go down hill.

LOL lizdave, Never go back they say :) , On our last trip we went to Bahama breeze and had the best meal of the lot, hmmmm mushroom ravioli, in sauce to die for and garlic bread that melted in the mouth !
So good we went back a week later and I had the same, but it wasn't a patch on the first time.
Regards......Ted
Our best meal was in the Market Street Cafe at Celebration and our worst meal was at the english pub at epcot (typically english microwave food!)
Best was at Bahama breeze ( opposite race rock on I drive ), worst was at Mythos in IOA. Waited ages - even though we had PS, loads were seated ahead of us, waited ages to order our food, the 4 meals arrived at intervals (Dh and DS1 had finished eating by the time DS2 had his meal ) and when the 2nd kids meal did arrive it was so disgusting DS refused to eat it ! ( dried up and cold ) had to go looking for the server to pay our bill. It was really quiet in there as well, don't know what the problem was, wouldn't go there again.

Why is it that most of these places can't manage two decent meals in a week? We have had some good meals at most places but we have also had some terrible ones.
Someone else mentioned Darryls. We always went to Darryls on our first night... it was a bit of a tradition. So they closed it down. Probably one of the few places where the food was usually ok.

last trip
best meal was Barbecue at the villa
worst meals were a toss up between Cattlemans on the 192 and The Rose and Crown in Epcot!! YUK YUK service was terrible food was worse and the scrum for illuminations was unbelievable, we had to have dessert with a mass of other people!! (though they really looked after DD with her food allergies)
I have found after years of going to Orlando/Kissimmee unless you try the new better class of restaurants the service and food are abysmal
I have my theories on why this is but I dont want to get flamed!
that said watching the footie at Beef O Bradys was great the buffalo strips were lovely and the service was excellent ... and we won too :)

I really dislike the Rose and Crown, it is just like cheap pub fare, but with that in mind I suppose it is a genuine UK experience!

Worst - DW says Garden Grill at Epcot - didn't like the rotation or the platter buffet. I would say Rainforest Cafe at DTD. We had very different choices for both courses - they all had one thing in common - they were yuk! As was the one in London! Urm Dixie Stampede was pretty gruesome as well!
Best - Both agreed out of the places we ate Boma was the best!

Our best meal was as Nascar cafe in Universal, great food and brilliant atmosphere.

The worst has got to be McDonalds on I Drive. It was just too busy, the queues were so long and food wasn't good.
The best - Ponderosa! We go to the one nearest to the Quality Inn Plaza on I Drive. The service is always friendly, they are great with kids (last time year we had a three year old and a 4 month old baby) and there is loads of choice.

Best has to be LONGHORN STEAKHOUSE on 192. OMG its so amazing in there.
Worst has to be Dennys on I-Drive. Nasty nasty dump!!
Best - Chicken stir fry at the Rainforest Cafe. Filled me up for days. :tounge:
Worst - Sizzlers evening meal. Steak (if you could call it that) took them about an hour to cook and tasted like leather!!! :(

I'll second that! Our experience in Oct 2004 was much the same. Cold, small and poor quality portions. Terrible service and undercooked meat. Horrible :nonono:
Best meal was just along I Drive from Wild Jacks - Uno's. Fantastic steak, superb shrimp pasta, wonderful service and the best puds in town!
:spin:
Best Old Hickory Steakhouse Gaylord Palms
Fish n Chips at Raglan road
Worst anything at Ponderosa
Best Outback steakhouse and Fudruckers
Worst perkins 192. yuck, yuck, yuck!

Best: Cheesecake Factory...yummy food but way too much of it....had to get cheesecake to take away :d:
Worst: TGI fridays on I drive, appalling food and even worse service
2nd Worst I agree with Jenny25 that the chinese takeaway on US27 near Publix is bad, I ordered vegetable chow mein and ended up with prawns in it....guess they don't understand what a veggie is.

Worst meal was at Race Rock, Beef Marsala tips that were bland and boring, server tried to rip us off as well to complete the miserable dining experience.
Best meal is so tough, the missus liked both Bennigans and Flippers for their superb pizzas, but I'm going to put my foot down and say that Vito's Chop House takes the honours.
Best - too many, Fuddruckers, HRC, Perkins i-Drive, GC, Ponderosa & definitely the sci-fi dine in at MGM
Worst - by far was the garden grille @ epcot. Good atmosphere, character greeting fantastic however food, i can't really comment on. I ate it however I was violently ill during the night and dodgy all the next day. can't go into detail with food as still balk everytime i think of it, desserts were good tho!!
Also, nice was a salald I had from Wendy's the night after the garden grille experience, really settled stomach down

Closely followed by Kobe's
Worst has to be Las Vegas Buffet also on 192, poor canteen food, you can eat cheaply without resorting to this place.

Best - O'Hanas at the Polynesian
Worst - Outback, small portion for once in Florida!! And bland!
Best.
The Outback, best steak we've ever had!
Worst.
Crabbie Bills, went there to try Alligator steaks. They ran out of potatoes and tried to fob us off with some cock and bull that the chef had forgot to put them in the oven. The Alligator was almost raw! Crabbie Bills is on the 192. In our opinion 'CRABBIE' is the correct title!!
