As you know, yet another hurricane, Hurricane Jeanne, passed through Florida last week. Although Walt Disney World bounced back fairly quickly from the storm, some areas are still feeling the effects:
-- Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground, which evacuated campers on Saturday, September 25, is scheduled to reopen September 30.
-- Hard-hit Disney's Vero Beach Resort remains closed while damage is assessed and recovery efforts take place. Guests with reservations through October 31, 2004 are being contacted.
-- The Coral Reef Restaurant, in Epcot's Living Seas pavilion, sustained some damage and is closed, but is slated to reopen for lunch on Monday, October 4. The Living Seas Pavilion itself is open during regular park hours.
Although the WDW resort is recovering, many Disney Cast Members are still suffering the effects of multiple hurricanes in their personal lives. On their behalf, those of you who are visiting Walt Disney World in the coming weeks to be patient and understanding. If you find a location in the World that is short-staffed, or if some Cast Members are not as "magical" as you think they ought to be, please remember that the Orlando area and its residents are dealing with a less than magical situation.
If you'd like to help out financially, Walt Disney World set up a Cast Member Hurricane Relief Fund several weeks ago. To donate to this fund, send your check to:
