Do you mean the Disney speedway? If you do it is expensive if you do the Richard Petty driving school. I haven't seen any trip reports with it in. I think it maybe more popular with american tourists than with brits. Try www.1800bepetty.com for more details.

My hubby did the Richard Petty drive along whilst we were there in September, and whilst it was very quick (if you blinked, you'd miss it), he really enjoyed his three laps around the circuit. The other options are VERY VERY expensive though.

Another hands up for Richard Petty Experience at Walt Disney World Speedway.
Like Missbounce says,it is a bit quick, but if motor racing is your thing.........do it.
Costs $99 for a 3 lap "simulated qualifying session"..........at about 140 mph.
But if you check out most of the discount books ,you should find a $20 discount voucher.
Photo is a bit expensive, but no more expensive than you would pay in one of the parks.Or just take your own.
Im just waiting for the 2005 schedule to be completed for RPDE at Daytona, and fingers crossed they will be there at the same time as us.

The speedway that you are asking about is off of US HWY 50 going towards Cocoa Beach and Kennedy Space Center. It is a small oval track that has racing on both Friday and Saturday nights.
I use to go to this track every Friday night with my Dad. I'm a huge Nascar fan and have also done the Richard Petty program at Daytona International Speedway.
For more racing information you can go to:
Orlando Speedworld (http://orlandospeedworld.org/)
Keep in mind that this is mainly 'locals' racing and you will be right in the heart of redneck living! ha! :D

FLGirl,RPDE run at the Disney speedway based at MK.
Hey,know what you mean though with regards being in the middle of Redneck living.
We have been to Sunshine raceway twice [nr Clearwater],and to East Bay at Tampa for some "Blow your mind" Sprint car racing.
At all 3 meets we have attended.Im pretty sure we were the only Brits there, and sure get a surprised sort of response from the locals when they find out where we are from.
A question for you .Which track would you recommend.......Orlando Speedworld,or New Smyrna Speedway???.
We are going to give one of these tracks a visit next April............Might even do both.lol.
Anybody wanting some Sat night racing take a look at www.chasinracin.com

Yes, RPDE is at both Disney and Daytona International Speedway. Daytona is a much better track to do this at (my opinion). Have done the RPDE several times.
As for local racing I would go to the New Smyrna track anyday over the Orlando track. New Smyrna is better quality racing (although it is a traveling circuit) and you are much closer to the action. If you go there make sure you take some ear plugs if you have small children. Because of the track positioning you get the sound much more.
There are several of the Nascar drivers who have houses close to New Smyrna and they often visit the track or go to the dirt track across the streets for the Mini Sprints. Several of them go from being a driver to being a Dad watching their 15 and under kids race.
Good fun regardless of where you go. I started out at Orlando Speedway (they often have more crazy races like crazy 8's or demolition) being a kid so it's all good! :D

FLGirl,Im glad you recommended New Smyrna,as that is the track I was thinking of visiting this time around.
I see its a half mile circuit as well, that should add to the spectacle.
Have seen school bus figure 8 race and 54 car demolition derby at Sunshine speedway at Clearwater.
Much prefer the racing on asphalt in the States,I find the dirt track races take far to long because of stoppages.
Busby,I think the answer to your question is like FLGirl says. Its a quarter mile short oval with different classes of racing.A bit like a stockcar race meeting here.
Unlike our style of stockcar racing, there isnt very much contact, and what there is is normally unintentional.I would say their style of racing is a lot like short oval hot rod racing that we have here.
It will also have a very local fanbase, which to the average Brit can be a bit daunting.
