Has anyone swam with the manatees? Was it a good experience? where did you go and who did you book with?

Did it this year with the family, it was the highlight of our trip for me. The trip was to Crystal River.
Something I will never forget. I also bought the video of us swimming with manatees under water.

They are also very good with kids on the tour.

Our trip was via a Virgin Excursion but there are loads of companies that do the tours.

There have been various threads on manatee swims, you'll find loads :D

We did a swim last year with Scott Faulkenberg at Crystal River, definitely an experience that I will never forget, and wouldn't hesitate to do again :)

Hi we went in march this year to Crystal river. We booked through
fun2dive which we found on a thread on dibb. The man who runs it is captain joe and he is brilliant, we had a great time.

Did a swim with www.swimdolphins.com - absolutely excellent. Spent about an hour swimming with a mother & calf - an experience I'll never forget!

Everyone that has booked this excursion has had a really great time.
2 biggest operators from orlando are gator and international divers.

Each goes on separate days with gator picking up at all hotels in toursit corridors and ID at preselected pickup points

personally i'd drive to Crystal river myself and use one of the local operators.
I've been with birds underwater about a dozen times and they are always first out in the water!
No shortage of Manatees!:D

Birds Under water looks good and I fancy the drive to Crystal River. Coma, can you advise on the route and driving time ? It looks like it will be an early start in Sept 05 !!!!!!
