DH has always wanted to fly in a small aircraft (never get me in one for a million dollars!)
Is there anywhere around Orlando that would do this sort of flight?I know about the Warbird experience but I was looking more for a slightly more sedate experience, no loop the loops required!
Thanks
You don't have to do the loop the loops at Warbirds. Thats an optional extra.
You can take a light aircraft flight at Kissimmee Airport. Have a look at this site (http://www.kissimmeeairport.com/flt-train.htm). It is a list of flight training schools at the airport. Not only will you get a flight but will also have the opportunity to take control of the aircraft if you wish. I did this 4 years ago at Clearwater when my DW and I had an hour in a Cessna 172(?) and the flight took us out over the Gulf of Mexico and down along the coast to St Petes. The instructor put me in the pilot seat (left hand side) and handed over control straight away so I got to taxi out to the runway, take off and fly for practically the whole hour. Then when we entered the final circuit she took over for the landing. All the time, Linda was in the back seat clicking away and got through a couple of rolls of film. In a senior moment I just cannot recall the cost but do recall that it was a fraction of the cost of an hours flying at a UK school. I have $42 in mind but please don't quote me on it.
If you take a look here (http://www.sunstateaviation.com/fly_now.html), you will see an offer from one of the flight schools at Kissimmee where you will have your first 'lesson' for $49.
I'm off to Orlando on Friday and plan to try the Warbirds this time. If I can get any other info on flights I'll post it here in about three weeks time.
