Hey
I've heard some people adv about hiring a speed boat for a while to take out on a prev thread
http://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=45729
Has anyone ever done this? how much does it cost? did you drive it yourself?
What it worth it? :wiggle:

Depends were you want to take the boat. The US coast-guards will not let you take a boat out into the Gulf. You can only sail in the inland waterways and are limited to 30mph....which is fast on the water!
There are organised tours that allow you out on open water.
We hired from cedarbayrentals.com when we went south to Marco Island.
"Deck Boat - This high-end, very sharp boat combines the open seating of a pontoon boat with the speed of a bow rider or center console. With easy on/off access from the bow/front and a ladder off the stern/rear, it is a great boat for visiting area islands for swimming and shelling. The deck boat is also ideal for that lazy tour through some of Naples' and Marco Island's finest real estate. Discover that $3 million home waiting for you to move in. The deck boat has a 150 HP Mercury engine powering you to your destination. Each boat comes equipped with a bimini (sun) top, plastic cooler, VHF radio, USCG equipment and an easy-to-navigate color chart of the local waters.
Full Day (8-4:30) $285.00, Half Day (8-12 or 1-5) $210.00"

But i think i'd def be up for bookin one for half a day next time we go. Thank you for the link

Probably better betting a jetbike....waverunner.
We hired one for 30minutes for only $75. This was big enough and powerful enough to allow myself and our two DS (9&6) to go at the same time............................
It was great fun.
But remember to wear sunglasses, the spray can start to sting your eyes.

Hey
When you say Jetbike, what do you mean? is it like a jet ski? or a bigger version?
I'd love to hire a jet ski, that'd be a blast!
Thanks

DW and I have hired boats from Captain Jack's marina in Downtown Disney a number of times over the years. You hire them by the half hour I think.
Price depends on the type of boat you have - I can't recall the exact amount but $50 for 30 minutes sort of sticks in my mind.
You drive them yourself - and there are all different sorts to choose from - big ones, and small ones, and ones that are "sporty" and ones that are not!
You can also hire them from the Disney hotels outside WDW. I think it may be the Poly or Contemporary, but I have yet to do this. I am sure someone will be along in a while that will be able to tell you more!
It is great fun, and a lovely way to spend an hour doing something completely different.

Do you have to be staying onsite to hire these boats.
Stuart
No - any of the boats like Watermice etc can be hired even if you are not staying on-site.
Hiring the Watermice at the Poly Marina is a brilliant way to split up the day if you're visiting MK.
We hopped on the monorail from MK to the Poly, had lunch there and then had a 30 minute adrenalin rush around the lake before heading back on the monorail to MK to prepare for Wishes - had an excellent day.
