View Full Version : How "spread out" is Animal Kingdom?

Hi everyone,

Just in the process of planning our day at AK, and my plan seems to be taking us from one end of the park to the other rather than following a more logical sequence - this is mostly due to trying to get as many rides on FP as possible as early in the day as possible.

So - my question is, just how spread out is Animal Kingdom - if it's pretty compact, this is probably not an issue - if it's big, then I need to re-think my sequencing.

TIA!

Hi - it's quite spread out, I'm afraid. To get to anywhere you have to come back to the circular path around the Tree of Life and it does seem to take quite a long time to get around. To get to Conservation Station you also have to take a train.

On the plus side it's all so beautifully themed that walking about is a pleasure. If it's any help we went on a Saturday in October and there were hardly any queues for anything, so we only Fastpassed Kali River Rapids. Had we wanted to do Kilimanjaro Safari we'd have fastpassed that too, but I'm not really a fan. Dinosaur was a walk on and we queued for 10 mins for Primeval Whirl because only one side was running - they were fixing a car on the other.

Thanks Edie, unfortunately we want to do EVERYTHING - LOL!

I'll try to sequence the plan a little bit better to stop us having to walk too far ALL the time.

Trouble is, I understand that March (even before the Easter rush) is likely to be quite a lot busier than October.

Thanks!

Oh dear - I thought they were about the same. In that case it might be worth sending whoever is most fleet of foot to get the fastpasses whilst the others walk to the first non-fastpass ride.

Don't underestimate the power of gift shops for diverting people from their purpose. I can regularly be heard saying "But the shop will be still open on the way out!" before seizing everyone's park tickets and dashing off in search of fastpasses. :D

Edie, I could most definitely be wrong about March vs October, but I'm taking my steer from http://www.touringplans.com/BestDays.htm
where they say March is about a 7/10 in crowd levels, but only 2/10 in October.

I've revamped my plan, so I'll post it shortly! :D
