View Full Version : Water Parks without getting Wet

I have sort of asked this question before but now I'm looking for a final answer, in the words of Chris Tarrant.

As many of you will be aware, the newer style of Disney tickets provide for unlimited entry to the Water Parks for the duration of the ticket.

I love the water and swimming and all of that sort of thing, so it seems a shame not to visit the parks. However, Mrs Ulsterscot is not of the same fish-like tendencies and, having reviewed the literature, appears tempted only by the slow tube rides (if anything).

So, the question is this - Is a day at the waterpark tolerable for someone who really has no interest in the rides? Can you use the Park in the same way as you would a big swimming pool? In other words, can you just laze about and read a book there? Do they have decent numbers of loungers?

Okay, so that's more than one question, but you get the drift...

there are plenty of beds...but arrive reasonably early in the day if you want one around main pool areas.

And is it common enough for people just to lie there for a day while their juvenile husband scampers round the slides and pools, whooping and hollering?

We went with Mil, last year - she can't swim, and is quite scared of the water........the only thing we tempted her onto was the lazy river at TL - she spent the rest of the day soaking up the rays on a lounger - and remembers the two days we spent at TL as two of the best days of the hol - she says it was like a day in paradise, so relaxing, and though totally different from the main parks, just as wonderful:D

In TL, head for the volleyball court - smaller area than the main beach by the surf pool, its close to loo's, drinks and food stands/cafes, and with loungers and a covered eating area with picnic style benches - get there early for best choice of seating.

TL is better for chillin' than BB

Sue's recommendation of a place to sit is good or If you get some loungers near the wave pool DW can dip her toes in the waves whenever the fancy takes her :D

Yes plenty of loungers and TL is nicer for relaxing at. As has been said go somewhere near the wave pool for easy access to dip the toes :D DMIL came with us last year and happily went on the lazy river and then laid in the sun while we did the bigger rides and when we went in teh wave pool DMIL stood at the back and paddled whilst watching us enjoy the waves :)

This sounds familiar,i enjoy the waterparks too TL ESPECIALLY ,while i float around the lazy river a few times, laze in the sun:cool: and plan our evening ahead my DH goes on the slides etc etc ,we usually say a time and place and meet for lunch:beer: and a drink later, then he goes back:jump: and enjoys himself.
It makes for a nice relaxing day for me:D

Do what i do, trick her into the more exciting rides. I managed to trick Ash onto one of the Storm slides in Typhoon Lagoon, i told her it was a gentle drop down the tube and she bought it.lol. Beware the the wrath at the bottom though, can get a bit nasty.lol

Hi Keith, we always visit BB and TL and dw just lazes about on a sunbed. She really enjoys these days relaxing and reading a good book. DS and I go on all the rides and slides and keep DW supplied with drinks and cookies.

Give it a whirl it a blast.

Isaac.

As someone has already said, go early to get sunloungers in a decent spot. Last trip, we went to BB on a Friday ay 12ish (nusy day) and could not find one chair even! We went to TL the following Mon (BB had now closed for refurbishment) and we arrived again about 12ish and managed to find one chair (not sunlounger).

My DW and MIL are not big fans of water, but we went to BB, TL and WnW.

Our DS's and me spent hours on the slides etc, and left DW and MIL to recharge the batteries.

As the water parks did not open to 10am, we broke the day up by going to the theme parks for early opening, then hopping to the water park, then back to another theme park when it got cooler in the evening or had a meal.

Let them relax with a book or video camera.

That was in October, it was very warm and sunny, but parks were not full and easy to get lounger/chair.

Enjoy Kevin

TL definitely the best one for relaxing. No so concrete as BB and less orientated towards the rides. Laze around all day and go for a quick dip when it gets too hot.
