there are 2 types of annual pass, the cheaper one gives you unlimited access to all 4 main parks, and the premium one includes water parks, disney quest, pleasure island and disney's wide world of sports

You can hop with both passes, and there are no blackout dates

both entitle you to room discounts, and other discounts off meals and shopping. We took advantage of the room discounts, but didn't get much benefit from the other stuff.

basic prices are

Annual Pass $420.68 $357.84 (Adult/Child)
Premium Annual Pass $548.49 $466.49 (Adult/Child)

you get a discount if you are DVC or renewing

you can buy them from Disney direct - ring 407 WDISNEY
they will send you a voucher which you can activate when you arrive, or you can wait and buy them at the park gates

if you can swing 2 trips within the year (we did November 2003 and October 2004) then they are a really really good deal.

the new 14 or 21 day UK passes are quite reasonable though, so if you are only going for one trip, then i don't think they are the bargain they once were.

If you buy an AP then you can buy a Disney Dining card for $50 and get 20% off most sit down meals at Disney resorts and parks !!

Ideal for someone like me who eat on site for three weeks!

Also like Bev says if you can plan two trips out of one pass its fantastic value.

I will buy one on October 25th for three week holiday this year and then go away at the beginning of October for three weeks in 06 and get 6 weeks use from one pass ( plus a sneaky visit in May as well!!)

I do the same with Universal AP's!

What are Charter Annual Passes ?

I rang WDW last year and asked the girl for any "good deals" (as you do) and she sold me 4 Charter AP's, they were a lot cheaper than normal AP's. We were dubious when we traded it in for the proper pass at WDW and were expecting to have to pay the difference, but they had no problem with it and we were able to use it at every park, get discounts off meals etc. etc.

On the WDW website it describes these passes as being exactly the same as normal AP's, but cheaper....wierd.

Charter Annual Passes are ones that have been kept continuously in effect since first offered in 1982 so you did extremely well to get one. This info is from allearsnet
