View Full Version : Sickness on rides

Over the last few years I have found myself feeling ill on rides, especially simulators and don't get me started on Spiderman (involved using my rucksack as a sick bag!)

My problem is though I still love em! Do you think if I took travel sickness tablets before I went on them it would make me feel better?

Sorry to post such a bizarre question!

Thanks
Joey

I know some people have recommended Dramamine in the past. Best to counsult your doctor or a pharmacist as they will be able to advise you what will be most effective.

I used some off the shelf (cant remeber the name!!!) travel sick tablets last year to make sure my theme parking was not hampered by sickness. They did the trick as I went on just about every ride and never felt sick once. Which has not been the case in the past!!!
Definitely recommend some that last for about 8 hours so you can get through most of the day on one dose.

I can't believe I never thought to do that! I've been avoiding some of the more wilder riders (or ones I thought would cause me problems  !!!) like Tower of Terror - although I did do Duelling Dragons! LOL Will definately make sure I get some before our next trip :D

This topic has just reminded me of a bizarre thing i noticed whilst in Orlnado a couple of weeks ago......

I went on Mission Space at Epcot and could not believe my eyes, there hanging on the console were sick bags!! Its the first time i have been on a ride anywhere and they have had sick bags hanging there for the rider.

Pleased to say did not need them even after 4 rides

Dramamine !!!

I used this first time in January and it is fabulous...I have a VERY low threashold for motion sickness and I was one that was sick in the toilet after Mission Space.

However when I used Dramamine I went on simulators, spinners, rollercoasters etc etc and NO sickness at all. Not even a hint !!.....HOWEVER it makes you very very drowsy! after three hours its like a blanket coming over you !!! A tiredness I have only ever known when pregnant!

That is the downside unless you get non drowsy ...but depends how effective they are ??

Some friends of mine helped in the design and build of Mission Space. When it first had its trials and even when it opened the incidence of sickness was higher than anything previously known.

The big problem was that due to the nature of the ride if one person in the capsule vomited then everyone else aboard all got their fair share. Hence all the warnings.

Where can I get some dramamine? The sleep inducing aspect of it is a huge bonus for me! I'm more interested in the sleep thing than the ant - sickness!

Further to my post yesterday, the sickness tablets I took were called Stugeron or Sturgeron (can't remember the exact name!!). I got them from Tesco pharmacy. No drowsiness and they last for about 8 hours so should get you through most of a themepark day.
Never thought of the Mission space vomit factor!!!! Just hope no one ever throws up while im in the same capsule.

LOL :D Very good coin of phrase! I am glad I looked in on this thread - ive never thought of travel sickness pills but then its all motion isnt it. Im worried about feeling sick and spoiling the ride for myelf, family and others if I upchuck on them so Ive avoided the bigger rides and upside down rides etc. Im almost convinced to give it a go!
