When we went to WDW in Sept '04 we were staying at the Sheraton World Resort which is right next to Seaworld so it seemed like a natural choice to go. We were very dissapointed, we REALLY enjoyed the shamu show and the dolphins but in general we were really disappointed by it. Has anyone else had a bad experience there?

Not a bad experience but IMHO Seaworld is not a full days entertainment, least ways not after your first visit. We always spend some time there but usually a half day or 2 if Flex tickets have been bought.

When we went we got a free second day but we didn't use it, we just thought it was a bit boring, I rememeber going to the one in California and loved it, but I guess I was kid then. It just doesn't compare to WDW

No - we love it and in fact, last time we went, we arrived at 9.15am, left at 7pm , and had still not seen it all.

Wow, that is impressive, we really wanted to go on the big viewing tower but it was out of order.

We also love Seaworld as it is a nice relaxing day with a few goes on Kraken :D :D We tend to do two days if we are there long enough so that we can see all the shows.

Hi what was the disappointment if you don't mind me asking.
The shows are excellent, and although they really have only two major rides the park itself is very informative, but I can see it's not for everyone, my DW for instance does not like it.

I am not really that sure what the disappointment but we just didn't enjoy it all that much, I agree the shows are awesome. I guess we were a bit worried about the impending hurricane aswell, but we won't be going back next year.

We ALWAYS start with Seaworld, and end with Seaworld and do the odd afternoon/evening here and there as well. Such a relaxing park, shows are fine, food is mostly good, nice atmos. and the kids love it....which helps.
My only gripe is that a couple of times in one of the resturants the staff weren't the friendliest I've ever seen...but then I wouldn't want to be couped up in a hot resturant when I could be out playing either ;-)
On our first ever visit to Florida, Sea World was the first park we did and we were completely blown away by it. As the years have gone by though we don't like it as much. We tend to do a one day visit every three or four years which is enough but never stay for a full day.

We love Seaworld,In fact if I told the girls we wern't going,I would probably have a riot on my hands and Suzie would file for divorce.
At the end of the day we all like different things.
Apart from one of our DDs,none of us really like coasters and fast rides,so we wouldnt enjoy IOA.But Seaworld is our type of park,so we go every trip.

Hi
We all enjoyed Seaworld but one full day was enough. Don't think we will go on our next trip.

Loved it. So relaxing just to stroll around after the hussle and bussle of Disney, IOA and US.
Sea loins, killer whales and Dolphins are excellent.
We have bought annual passes this year and hence can just pop in for a few hours and relax on our lazy days in October and then again in May/June.
We love Sea World and went about 3 or 4 times on our last trip.
It's always the park we start with - it's great for first days.
We don't bother with the 'big' rides, but we did do a 'behind the scenes' tour which was interesting.
I can't imagine a trip to Orlando without going to Sea World

Personally apart from Kraken and the Shamu show, I can take or leave Seaworld. It is never a full day for us although we usually go (the last twice because we got it free from doing DC). One of my gripes is the shortage of food places - particularly counter service , when we last went it was very limited, we had to queue for ages and it was distinctly average

my daughter loved the dolphins and the shamu show in the afternoon But I found it a bit boring as most of the birds/marine life we can see at local zoos like whipsnade so I suppose it wasnt really novel for us I did think that the shamu show was entertaining though.

When we went last year we enjoyed it as usual but one thing we both noticed was that the staff seemed particularly miserable. We're not into poeple falling over us with bacon slicer smiles and ra ra ra but you know what I mean - just miserable - couldn't be bothered with even the basics. the self-serve restaurant sticks in my mind as a place where they seemed particularly happy at their work!! It didn't spoil our day by any means and we will go back but there was an obvious feeling from the staff in some areas of the park gift shops, restaurants seemed worse.

I haven't been to Seaworld since 2002. Was a bit disappointed then as a lot of stuff ( like the sharks ) was in rehab.
Plan however to go this October as the boys are a little older and will probably enjoy it more.
Personally I don't like fishes and things swimming round me !

I like Sea World. I can take or leave the shows but I love the dolphins, manatees, penguins, sea lions, the octopus and of course Kraken which is the best coaster ever.

One of my favorite parks! probably second to MK.
The memory of seven killer whales in the pool at Shamu Stadium at the same time will last a long long tme!! The night time show in Shamu stadium is much more entertaining than the day one.
Regarding the food, we found it good, particularly at Mango Joes and Voyages - similar (unsurprisingly) to DC food.
When we go back, it'll be towards the top of the list!
Jools
EDIT: Forgot to mention Atlantis - now there's a water ride!!:D
The behind the scenes tours @ Sea world are great. Very informative they are great for all ages & not very expensive too!
