Hey everyone
I'm a little confused. What exactly is Fantasmic? Is it the laser show at Epcot?
You see I've heard about the Fantasmic Dinner Package - but when I read about it, it mentions seats in a theatre which suggests it's indoors, not outdoors?
Any info would be much appreciated!! :D

Fantasmic is an evening show at Disney Studios (MGM) performed on a stage across water from an ampitheatre which holds just under 7,000 people. It has characters, rear-projection video on water screens (3), action set to music (lots of Disney music, of course!) and some fireworks.

The 'package' is where you eat at a specific restaurant during specific hours (in MGM) and then you get guaranteed seating at the show. Thousands just walk in though, so don't feel you have to have the dinner package - just arrive early enough to get a seat.
The atmosphere there before the performance is brilliant - very friendly, like being at an American Football game.
You must not miss it!!!

Oh it sounds great!
Can you make a reservation from the UK?

You don't make a reservation for Fantasmic ( on its own but you do for the dinner package)depending on when you go you just have to get there really early to get a good seat ( or a seat at all !) as sometimes it is full :(
I have done the dinner package at Hollywood and Vine. It costs no more than the usual dinner price ( so if you are having dinner anyway its a bonus!) You then get a ticket at the dinner from your waiter/tress to show at the special gate for dinner package guests.
The area of the ampitheater(sp) is to one side so its not the most greatest view but we had front row seats and had a great view.
The dinner package has to be booked up in UK before you go 90 days or less before the date. The restaurants that do the dinner package are Mama Melrose, Brown Derby and Hollywood and Vine.

a lot depends on WHEN you are travelling.
High season and it's going to be busy - sometimes you can expect the queue to be over an hour long to get in to the amphitheatre. It's not unheard of for people to go in 2 hours before to get the really good seats. So, in High Season it may be best to book the dinner package in advance - then you won't have to queue to get in.
In Low Season, the queue will be a lot less, probably about 30 minutes at most. You still need to get there early for the best seats (in the middle), but ALL seats have a view of the show, no problem. You can still do the dinner package if you want (we did in Feb 04) and just book it on the day when you arrive in the park (at Guest Services). It makes it seem even more special.
Fantasmic is stunning, and is definitely a Must See.
The fireworks at Epcot are called IllumiNations - and are also a Must See . . .
We queued for about an hour and got prime seats, the queue was really good humoured and people had brought picnics, pizza, cards, games etc to eat/do whilst waiting. The time passed really quickly and the show was absolutely worth the wait !
We saw the show in May and December last year on both ocassions we took our seats about a hour before the show was due to start, no problem getting seated
I can say that this is the best show for us.
It,s Fantasmic

Fantastic show not to be missed. We got in about 30-45 minutes before the start (29 Aug). Great atmosphere, especially the Mexican wave we were part of starting! Also got to watch an impressive thunderstrom in the distance to.

It's one of my favourite shows but my teenagers would NOT queue an hour to get in!!!
IMHO the dinner package is the way to go , You have to eat anyway!
If taking children I'd recommend Hollywood & Vine which is a buffet with great choice for both adults & children.
