Any tips for two first time 20 something New Yorkers?

Don't bother with actually visiting the Statue of Liberty, instead go on a Circle Line boat trip (you can do all around Manhattan or just a lower semi-circle). It takes you up close and personal to the old lady and the guides are informed and witty. You pick it up near where the cruise ships dock/next to air & navy aircraft carrier museum.
Eat at Ellen's Stardust Diner on Broadway and at the Brooklyn Diner - West 57th St (same street as Tiffany's)
Don't be afraid to ride the subway, its clean and cheap - just don't go north of Central Park. If its warm enough take a rowing boat out on Central Park Lake - the view cannot be seen anywhere else and is amazing!!

Make sure you go up the Empire State Building - superb views for miles (unless it's foggy!).
If you're going with your partner, go for a romantic stroll round Central Park (otherwise, just go for a stroll round the park :) ).

Go to Grand Central Station fab place and has a lovely food court and restaurant called the Oyster Bar :) Also go up the Empire State by day and night spectacular views.

You Lucky think I went to New York in March and i just can't say enough about the City it is amazing when people try to explain how brill it is they can never do it justice you really have to see it to beleive it.

My advice would be wear comfortable shoes as there really is alot of walking to do. Get up early as there is so much to see and do and last but not least enjoy yourself as it truly is a breathtaking place.

The Mall, Literary Walk and Bathsheba Fountain in Central Park
Blue Water Grill Restaurant - Jazz Room - Nice!!
Ellis Island
The Rink Bar at the Rockefeller building.

Even if it's foggy go up - you can still see through the clouds and there are no people when you go then - lol.

Get a New york Citypass (http://citypass.com/) It tells you on the site where yo ucan get it from - It includes admissions to 6 attractions - you can uograde the Circle Boat thing for a few extra dollars - well worth it - I think we visited all of them apart from MoMa as it was still in Queens then. On special offer as well now for only $53/adult.

You just have to try and get lost in Central Park(not hard mind) but it is so interesting and huge!! I love the castle in the middle!!

Century 21 down by where the WTC used to be is great for discount shopping and I had a little sniffle there when we saw what was left. Hated all the hawkers selling stuff there though!

Subway is really clean and not at all scary - if you can find the right station for the right line.

Go for a lush Italian just off Time Square, called Carmines!! The food portions are quite HUGE, even by American standards.Have fun!!!!
