I notice to use Quicksilver to pick us up and take us back at the end of our holiday costs $90. How much does this compare to a taxi there and back? Is it worth it? How much would you tip?
We are staying at the Grosvenor DTD. If its hardly any different from a cab it may be worth booking I am thinking.

Note that Quicksilver will include a 30 min stop (which you can use to goto walmart etc to buy some essentials)

We wont really need a stop. Ive now looked up Mears for a shuttle. I know it means sharing but they have come up with a round trip of $54 in total which is cheap I think. Do you know if this can be booked from the UK? Assume you just use a card or something? Has anyone done this?

The problem with Mears is not only sharing a ride. It's mostly the time wasted. A rough calculation is that you will lose at least 3 hours of your vacation in a line, or in the van for other people's stops. So, is $36.00 worth those three hours? If yes, the shuttle is the best bet. If you feel that $12.00 an hour is too little, and you would be better off in the parks enjoying, then come with us!!!:wink

I am using your limo to take me, hubbie and the kids to our hotel :wiggle: might be embarrased with a board and our name on it lol hee hee. This will be a surprise for the kids, so they will be very excited!
I've not used quicksilver before so have no axe to grind. But I'd rather spend the extra dollars (good exchange rate at the moment) and get straight to my hotel form the airport. You may be lucky and be the only party or be part of a very small delivery group. On the other hand you could be the last drop off of a very long line of customers. The choice is yours...good luck.
edited.....sorry, I don't think I've phrased that at all well, what I meant was I'd rather spend the extra few dollars with quicksilver and get to my hotel/villa quicker....:)

Fair comment, but having used Quicksilver for the first time this Christmas, I will definitely be booking them for when we go back in September.
After the 9 hour flight (which I'm not good with anyway), getting through immigration and the double luggage pick up which happens at MCO, a lovely man stood with a board with your name on..... I could have kissed him.
No more queuing for a voucher from Virgin, being loaded on a coach, waiting for everybody else to turn up then dropping off at all the other hotels. If the cost difference were huge, I can see the point, but as its so small - $36? Less than £20? Not a chance. Quicksilver get my vote (and booking) any day of the week.

I've used both Mears and Quicksilver and won't use anyone but Quicksilver again. They are very reliable, friendly, helpful and quick and the 30 minute grocery stop is fantastic. On my last transfer with Mears it took 2.5 hours to get from MCO to Disney and that was driving time not sitting at the airport.

I used mears on my last trip, and personally id pay the extra and go with quicksilver, the service isnt that great, youre squashed up with about 8 other people, and it takes an age to get anywhere, at least with quicksilver, its just you, its direct, its more comfortable(ive ridden in the towncars!), and you get the 30 minute stop.
Ive booked quicksilver for my up and coming trip, which is airport roundtrip, and 3 seperate other trips, mainly because ive done mears and wasted so much time, that only having a week, i need all the time I can get!.
Quicksilver gets very good revue's on here, and personally its only a few dollars more ontop of what youve paid, so why quibble over a few dollars.
Ive had excellent service so far from quicksilver.

My vote would be for Quicksilver. We have booked them for this October and they come highly recommended.
We used another company last year, it was so good to get that direct transport.
When we have been in europe, we hate getting the shuttle, waiting for everyone to load and then all the stops. Now we always get a taxi or hire a car and are 1st at the hotel to get a reasonable room.

I forgot to take the phone number for Quicksilver on holiday last week.We didn't have access to a computer,so tried to get the number from operator services while I was there.
I tried 3 times and they couldn't find a listing for Quicksilver at all:confused2 Make sure you take the number with you!
Quicksilver,any idea why I couldn't get your number?

Hi,
Well, we chose not to pay to get listed in the Yellow pages. We only work with vacationers, so pay to be listed locally wasn't an option we wanted. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Ive passed all you comments on to my other half and you've talked us into it!
We may also arrange our visit to Universal too. Play it by ear.
I have to admit we used Mears a bit on our last visit and did have a few stressful moments, one being our lift to the airport home. We have to call them three times. I think the problem was they couldnt get to grips with which Howard Johnson we were staying at - there are so many!!!
We are at the Grosvenor this time so it shouldnt be a problem!
So I can book our airport trip from here on the net then? Just use a credit card I assume?

one question. I notice the car is up to 4 passengers. As there are only two of us do we have to pay extra if the price is based on 4?

We used Quicksilver on our last trip too and were very impressed with the service, Will be using them again in September. Ive used mears aswell but the personal service with Quicksilver for what is just a few extra dollars is great.
Which reminds me i have to find out if quicksilver will do some local transfers from international drive to the wyndham palace spa.

AlisonLouise, no you pay per car not per person!, doesnt matter if you have 4 0r 2 people.
You can book the dates via email, but if you want to pay you have to phone gregory, with your CC details, its very easy.

Just log into our wesite (just click the banner below), and place your reservation. We will send you a confirmation within 24 hours.
Payments are made in full directly to your driver as soon as you arrive at your destination. The rate is for the vehicle, not per person, so to the Grosvenor the total will be $90.00 (gratuity not included).
Regards,
Gregory Nicolas.
