View Full Version : Bahama Breeze Roasted Cuban Bread??
We`re off this Saturday for two weeks to Orlando and are going to Bahama Breeze on the Sunday night. I always have a main course and a desert, but am really tempted this time to try the roasted cuban bread. I`ve had a look at the menu and it looks really yummy, but I was wondering if the bread is cold or warm? Also, is it very spicy? The key lime pie for desert looks scrummy too.
Thanks.
Fiona.
it is lovely. We shared it between the three of us. It is really like a giant brushetta and is very very tasty. My son still talks about it. it is warm and isnt spicy from what I can remember.

Awesome.
Warm and not spicy, we shared between 3adults and 2 kids.
Did you know that you can call ahead for BB and get yourself on the waiting list for a table ? It is not a reservation but your waiting time starts from when you ring .Useful as it can get very busy.

We love BB, and we will be making a return trip without any doubt.
I'll have to arrive hungry to make sure I can get all three courses down!!!
Thanks everyone for all your replies. Jan, I`d seen that advertised on their web site and had copied down the `phone numbers, but thanks for doing that. It`s appreciated. :-)

Bahama breeze is my favourite restaurant ever!!! Me and my bf shared a roasted cuban bread as a starter - It is amazing! The key lime pie you mentioned is also lovely!! Enjoy your meal :) wish i was going!
Here's the recipe, it is yummy but I'm sure you get loads of it in one portion so be aware of that!
Roasted Cuban Bread from Bahama Breeze
(Serves 6-8)
Ingredients:
2 large - Vine ripened Beefsteak tomatoes
1¼ cups - Tomato marinade (see recipe below)
1 loaf - Fresh Cuban bread, 3/4 pound
6 tbsp - Garlic herb butter (see recipe below)
¼ cup - Fresh grated Parmesan cheese
¼ cup - Fresh basil leaves, sliced crosswise 1/8"
1 sprig - Fresh basil for garnish
Preparation:
1. Preheat oven to 450º F with rack in the middle of the oven.
2. Wash tomatoes and remove the core, then cut into 1/4" slices. Lay the slices in a glass dish and pour the marinade over them. Set aside while preparing the bread.
3. Slice bread lengthwise with a serrated knife to create a top and bottom. Spread half of garlic herb butter on the cut surface of each half of the bread.
4. Place bread, cut side up, on a sheet pan. Place in the oven for 3-4 minutes until the bread is lightly toasted. Remove from oven.
5. Lift tomato slices from the marinade and drain. Lay slices, slightly overlapping, on the toasted bread. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Return to the oven for 1-2 minutes to just melt the cheese. Remove from oven and transfer to cutting board.
6. Cut each half loaf, crosswise, into 8 pieces. Sprinkle with sliced basil leaves and arrange on a warm serving platter. Garnish with a fresh sprig of basil.

Our favorite restauarnt on our visit last week. The Key Lime Pie was great
Mmmmm. Now that does sound yummy! :jump:
We phoned ahead last Tuesday (is it really a week ago). Added our name to the list, went for a shower, got ready , leisurely drive up to LBV and walked right past a big line at the podium and got seated immediately. Fantastic system.
The onion rings are wonderful BTW.
