View Full Version : Packing for two weeks
Hi its getting nearer.
I will be going to Disney for the first time on April 18th for two weeks with my husband and my three year old son. We are travelling in a group and space is at a premium. What sort of clothes should I pack ? I have been told that all restaurants etc are air conditioned and cold, does this mean long sleeves for the evening ? if no, is it chilly in the evening anyway so still bring light jacket, cardigans.
My son loves wearing sun suits/surfers clothes so will that be ok for the day i:e is it hot enough I don't want him to look out of place but I don't want him to burn either.
Any advise would really be helpful as I think I am now worrying about everything. I will be posting my itinerary soon so will be looking for help then !
thx

The restaurants are air conditioned but I have never felt them chilly as for packing take as little as possible

I would agree with taking as little as possible (just packing all mine now).
Last year we took loads of evening wear and never wore any....take the minimum and buy the rest out there..
Hope this helps

Agree with everything before. Take as little as possible, mainly shorts, vests and tee-shirts. Possibly a fleece or long sleeve t-short left in the car for the evening, but probably not needed.
We took some jeans, long linen trousers and "summer" shirts last year, they all came back without wearing.
My DW has set an objective for this year to fit everything into one case.............LOL. 2 adults and 2 children for 2 weeks....but we do have a washing machine in the condo so could be achievable.
I was always a bit chilly in the restaurants in the evenings cos of the air conditioning and looked forward to getting outside in the warm! If you feel the cold you might want to pack a long sleeved top/jacket just in case.

You don't need as much as you think! (at least I don't)
I took a couple of long sleeved cardigans for the evenings in October/November. I wore one once. The restaurants didn't seem cold to me - we did need jackets while waiting for Fantasmic and DS had one on an evening in Epcot.
I took a couple of skirts for the evening and a couple of smarter T shirts - I did wear them a couple of times. Cropped trousers were also useful.
We took trousers for DS and he never wore them - he was happiest in knee length shorts with cotton shirts or T shirts. He didn't burn (we used P20) and he fitted right in.

Totally agree with everyone.. pack as if going for 1 week and you will be fine. We went away and packed lots of tshirts, shorts, trousers, shirts etc etc, ended up with most of the items hanging up all holiday and I brought some bits out there.
Take a light jacket or top in case you do feel cold, as sometimes in the restaurants you might get chilly, better to have it and not use it.
Also if you are staying in a villa, use the washing machine and take even less.. my aim is to go away with 2 pairs of pants, one pair of shorts and a tshirt for 2 weeks, so if you see a man walking around injust a part of grotty speedos, thats me and it didnt work!

Hope I'm not hijacking this thread but I have the added complication of being a week in Virginia at Easter before flying down to Floridain April. I've decided to pack for the first week which has a more temperate climate and could be like here anywhere from just above freezing to the low 70s. Whilst in Virginia I plan to buy summer clothes for the next two weeks and pack a case within a case.

I find it can be quite chilly in the restaurants and also in the shopping malls due to the air con .... take a bigger suitcase than you need too you'll almost definately need the extra space for the stuff you buy there

We are going in March and I am taking shorts and T-shirts for the kids and DH with a zip up long sleeved top in case of chilly evenings. They will be travelling in long lightweight combats which I can then wash at the villa in case we need them. I think I look a b****r in shorts so I always take knee length skirts and crop pants for myself, again with one long sleeved zip up.
We are going for 2 weeks, so I plan to take enough for a week and then wash them, and of course we will be doing a wee bit of shopping!!!! I plan 3 suitcases between 6 people, and one of those needs to be only half full!

when I pack I bring loads of stuff with me vest tops, t shirts, shorts, skirts, knee lengh trousers although dont normally wear pants. I also prefer to wear sandals to trainers although will bring 1 paid with me. I find that trainers my feet get hot and sandals they stay nice and cool.
but my partner normally brings enough of everything to last him the 2 weeks so then I have got room to buy loads. And this time I am going to do that, buy loads of clothes, shoes & toys for my little boy, also going to buy perfume for myself.
