Hi! I've been lurking for a while, but now have a burning question so I hope you lot can help. I want to buy my hubby a mini-ipod and have just had an email from apple saying they are £139 inc vat - £118 not inc vat, so I was just wondering, does anyone know if i can buy one duty free at manchester airport, or sanford on the way back with no vat?

Never seen them at Sanford and doubt they would sell them there as it is only a small airport with no electrical shop.

How much do you think i'll be paying at the apple shop in millennia? £132 on the apple website, and 125 in john Lewis sounds good - d'you think with the exchange rate it's worth waiting?

$199 for the 4GB version, $249 for the 6GB version (plus tax, which I think is 6%?).

I got mine last week from John Lewis. I could have waited and got in the Apple shop at Millenia next month, but wanted to listen to it on the flight to Sanford.

I also got one from John Lewis last week - it's absolutely brilliant . .

but you need to be aware that it's the older one with the 8 hr battery - the £139 one's are only just out and have a 13 hr battery and an extra 2 gig of memory. Mind you, they only come with the USB connector and no mains charger (the £125 one also has the firewire connector AND a separate mains charger - which I think is better 'cos you don't have to charge it up on the computer).

I've already uploaded nearly 450 songs and havn't had any problems with the battery running out.
It's wonderful . . .

Yes, i was offered the '2nd generation' one and was told the differences, but then advised that really the 'first generation' s were probably better in the respect of firewires etc. i bought 2 of my kids one each for christmas for £179 each and even at that price they think they're fantastic, never had any problem with battery life or anything. I was thinking with 3 in the house of buying one of those little docking stations.
