Has anyone any advice/tips on phoning back to the UK whilst on holiday. I have heard it is very expensive to phone "home" from the hotel (staying at Villager Premier) but have heard you can get phone cards etc.

Phone cards are definately the cheapest option. Go for those bought in store rather than from a vending machine as you tend to get more minutes from these, but shop around to get the best rates.
The Post Office over here also sell these that you can take out with you. I think they have a decent rate.
DON'T use the hotel phone from your room unless you like nasty surprises when you check out!!!
I have used phonecards and although it was a few years ago now I remember at the time thinking that I got a lot longer than I was expecting so I would go with the phonecard option. If I remember right I bought it in a store as well.
You can use the phonecards to phone from your room if your room allows free calls to 0800 numbers.

Definately recommend Phone Cards, bought one from Universal - mistake $10 lasted not very long, bought 1 from Walmart $8 had huge number of minutes, in fact ended up ringing people in the UK just to use up the minutes...bought the card home with about 12 minutes left on it. They usually have the Phone Cards near the check out tills.

Hi I bought mine in wallmart 10 days ago I payed $6.30 and I got 30 mins for that. To use the card I had to dial 011 44 and then uk std code leaving out the 0 in the std code

Definately recommend buying them from Walmart or Rite Aid..
These are a right bargain. I lived out in the states for a few months last year and these are all i used. Did look at other options but nothing equals these ones.
I used to buy $30.00 - 120 mins to the UK... Guessing you won't want that but shows you what a bargain they are

Just a warning .. from my experience..
have been buying phone cards for years and got a lot of airtime..but last year the parks added a charge..quite a big chunk too I thought.
I only phone from the villa now but not sure where the best place to phone from if staying in a hotel? maybe a regular payphone?
