We plan to stay in a villa for our October 2006 trip and are currently going through our shortlist and hope to single one out over this week end.

The question I have is when and with who is it best to book the flight with?

I have been on the Virgin Holidays website and you can already book fly/drives for Oct 2006 which are working out about £650 for the flight, obviously you have to take their car hire.

I have also checked with Virgin Atlantic and they are only selling flights up to Feb next year.

Do you all book your villa's in advance of your flights and hope that you can get flights to match the villa dates?

Hi Chilly,

I normally book my flights first then when I am certain of the dates then book the villa, there are so many villa's for rent I never have any problem getting the one I want. Virgin don't release their flights until 11 months before you want to fly out.

I always book my flights first too ..would be worried about booking the villa then not being able to get flights to match ..I agree with sharon there is hundreds of villas to choose from

As I'm looking so far ahead and we have a villa in mind at a good rate, I'm worried that if I left booking the accomdation until after I'd booked the flights, November this year, I might miss out on the villa.

Who do you recommend for flights. If it's Virgin, then surely I'll be able to get the dates required if I book them on the day they are released.

Having always previously booked a package this is all new to me.

You don't have to take the car with virgin f/d holidays. This year I booked with VH, I just accepted the car for the free 7 days with no insurance etc then booked car hire seperately.

The trouble I have found with Virgin they are really expensive, I have used the same flight broker for all of my 8 holidays to Orlando and save an awful lot of money through him, example this year my flights for 3 adults and 1 kid was £1200 if I booked through Virgin Website they would have cost me £1900, he has never let me down and has always managed to get me the cheapest seats going, (they only released 6 of these seats) for the whole of the plane. If you want his phone number just let me know. At least your not trying to book the same time as me.

Lee, yes they were direct flights, I would hope you would get flights yes, when we spoke to him a few days ago about going May next year he seems to think that the cheapest flights he will be able to get us will be around £500 each, but saying that he has told us before and they have been a lot cheaper than that, he is a really good bloke, why not speak to the owner of the villa say what dates you want but flights have not yet been released and see whether they will be a bit flexible with the dates, also one more tip when booking your villa always get a extra day at the end of your holiday so you don't have to leave at 10..00am then you can spend the rest of the day by the pool before having to flying out in the evening, makes a more relaxing last day. If you are going school holiday time then you are going to pay a lot. Outside of that Virgin often do very good deals and you can fly for £300 each. Flights are roughly available 11 months in advance so if you were talking about Oct 2006 they would be available during Nov 2005.

I would have thought you would have been alright getting the villa, it is not the busiest time. I know mine would never be booked that far in adcance.

if you are wanting flights for half term week, you may be out of luck waiting until november. I tried to book for october 04 in nov 03 and there were no flights to be had anywhere ! best bet might be the flydrive booked now ?
