DS Dan would like to know if he can buy games in the US which are compatible with his consoles.

He has a Gameboy Advance SP, a Gamecube and a PS1.

I know with the Gamecube you have to have PAL games which aren't readily available in the US i think its the same with the pS1 not sure about the Gameboy though.

We bought several games for DSs Gameboy - we paid in $ approx what we would have paid in £ - so they were much cheaper.

We bought them at the Florida Mall, Millenia Mall and Wallmart.

Gameboy games are compatible and are much cheaper over there - try Wal mart or Target in the first instance.

teri's bought games for her gameboy advance sp in florida and no problems at all..... apart from costing me a fortune because they're such good value it's hard to refuse

Gameboys are ok but playstations are definitely not.

Hi Mazzy,

You can buy USA Gamecube games, but you will also need to buy a "boot" disk called a "Freeloader" to allow your UK system to run them. They aren't expensive, look on Amazon or do a Google search. Do your research first and know the prices of games in the UK as some games can be cheaper over here.

Yes Mazzy - get a Freeloader disc (for you Gamecube) and you can use your US discs in the UK. Thats what we did. I dont think you can get them in Game or Gamestation any longer but some of the small independent shops do them. Thats where we bought ours. You can purchase on line too.
The new DS games are region free BTW.

If we were to buy a Gameboy DS over in the US, am I right in thinking then that any games (from US or UK) could be played on it?

Yes our son bought a DS at Xmas in the US (just out here ) games are compatible.

Not only can you get the gba games to play on gameoys bought here but the videos they have released for them over there also play.We have yugioh and spongebob ones that my brother brought over to us in Nov and they play fine.
