I had a feeling the pools in the resort hotels are only open to residents of that hotel. Certainly when we dined at AKL we were not allowed into the pool area of AKL.

Oh yes hadn't noticed that. The pools are only for residents of the respective hotel at WDW.

Hi Clare,
We have 21 day ultimate tickets. I thought you could use any pool. Are we able to go and have a look round other resorts. We wanted to check them out for 2006:erm:

21 day ticket is good as means you can come and go as you please.
You are welcome to look around and dine at other resort hotels but use of the pool and leisure facilities is a big 'no no'.

We had meals at the Contemporary and AKL. At both we had a good look around the shops and lobby areas. With AKL we also went early and spent some time in the savannah viewing areas. I expect if you wanted to see a room you could ask and a member of staff would show you if one were free. I can't be sure but its the sort of thing I can imagine Disney obliging you with.
I didn't see any access to the gardens of the Contemporary but in AKL we could see the pool. The gates were locked and definitely had 'no no' signs on them. I also think the resident room keys opened the gates but I can't be sure.

Hi Clare,
Seaworld is a free 7 day consecutive pass with Discovery cove tickets. Universal is a 2 day 2 park pass but are extended to seven days and covers city walks aswell.

From what I understand of DC the 7 days has to be either after DC or just and it has to run up til the DC date if you get what I mean. May be worth calling them on 00800 33 44 1818 (free phone) to confirm if the 7 days can be independent of the dolphin swim. I had a feeling it had to run directly either side or over to stop people using them on another visit.

Hmm this is how it reads on the website -
*Passes valid for either SeaWorld Orlando or Busch Gardens Tampa Bay for up to seven consecutive days before or after your Discovery Cove visit. Combination park passes valid for up to 14 consecutive days before or after your Discovery Cove visit.

If the 7 days is immediately prior to the swim you could switch the 13th and 16th round.

Best place to shop I find is Premium Outlets (http://www.premiumoutlets.com/outlets/outlet.asp?id=17). As for food what are their favorite types of food or are they willing to try different things? Just a quick tip you may get a better/more varied respone to these questions by posting in the shopping/dining forum :)

I would leave the first evening very flexible, after a very long day and no sleep the night before ( too much excitement, just like the advert) everyone will be very tired. This years trip we planned DTD for a meal we even got there but because it was around 18:00 the wait for a table was about 1 hour, we couldn,t even speak we were so tired so we headed back and ate in the food court.
Definitely try the Rainforest Cafe at DTD, the kids will love it, the theming is fantastic.
The first morning you will probably wake up about 05:00, due to the time difference. If this is the case head for a park with early entry , magic hours. You don't have to go to the welcome meeting the first morning, they are held every morning. Last year it was in ASMO's next to the food court, about 9-10 am.
I notice that on MK you are going to the Contempory resort, I can recommend Chef Mickeys character breakfast here, realy good. It only about a 5 min ride from MK on the monorail. If you ask the driver they may let you ride up front and the kids will get a special driverd licience, just ask.
Its a very busy itinerary but I like it that way.
I note that you haven't specified Epcot fireworks - Illuminations still I think. May be you are thinking of giving these a miss..........
YOU CANNOT GO TO WDW AND NOT DO THESE!!!!!!!
Just a personal opinion of course!
ps. you have to listen to me I'm from Dalton-in-Furness:d:
