:D Is there such a place ?
Having 2005 all planned out and sorted . I have been bitten by the must go again bug :D Even though i still have 5 months until i get there again
Can anyone recommend a hotel that is clean , not mid renovations and doesnt cost the earth ?
I am wanting to book for 2006 early October.
But looking in the Virgin book they all look nice  Even though now i have seen pictures and heard stories which is now putting me off booking a hotel and making me want to stick to a villa with a pool. Was going to try a hotel and use transport provided to get about ,instead of hiring a car.

Oona, why don't you list the hotels your interested in and we can pull them to pieces one by one LOL. Seriously l'm sure there will be someone who has stayed in almost all of them and we can narrow it down for you.
l stayed in the HIFS at LBV which was really nice but its the sort of place you would go if you have children and you don't mention them.
LOL, sorry just seen your user name

have you ever thought about on site at the All Stars, it really is useful to stay on site and use the xtra benefits and Disney transport. The prices can be suprisingly cheap.

 Wheres HIFS at LBV ?:D
Thought i might try TCD ? They had doubletree at LBV for 2 weeks 2 adults and 2 children ,just under 2,000 at the start of October
Will go now and check out the all stars resorts ,i hadn't thought of trying the disney resorts. Just excited that DH said i can look to book again :jump:

The benefits of staying on site are great, even better now with the morning and evening magic hours.
The Disney transport takes you everywhere in Disney and is very good. The All Stars are supposed to be budget but We find it is to a high standars and gret theming for the kids.
MAGIC HOURS:
EXTRA MAGIC HOUR, a program that allows you to visit a particular theme park on a designated day beyond regularly scheduled operating hours, is offered ONLY to guests staying at:
-- Walt Disney World-owned resorts
-- Walt Disney World Dolphin & Swan Resorts
-- Shades of Green
-- Hilton Resort at Downtown Disney
NOTE: Beginning January 2, 2005, a NEW Extra Magic Hour program, with both morning and evening extended hours, was launched. This coincided with the introduction of the new "MAGIC YOUR WAY" ticket program.
Morning Extra Magic Hour occurs one hour prior to regularly scheduled park opening. That means if the park is scheduled to open at 9 a.m. to the general public, the Extra Magic Hour begins at 8 a.m. Transportation for the park offering Morning Extra Magic Hour will begin 30 minutes earlier than the opening time.
NOTE: You MUST present a valid Key to the World Card (Resort ID) at the park's turnstiles.
Evening Extra Magic Hours typically extend three hours beyond a park's scheduled closing time. You'll need to obtain a wristband at the theme park by presenting a valid Key to the World Card at one of several designated locations no sooner than two hours prior to park close.
I too love staying on site and stay in the AS Hotels too. They might be budget but they are pristine and there is nothing quite like the on site experience.
I do like to split my holiday and last year (after many recommendations from Dibb members) stayed in the Homewood Suites on I Drive. What a hotel! It is just the best I have ever stayed in. Have a look at the reviews on Trip Advisor.

It is no wonder it is one of the best 3 stars in Orlando. BTW it was only 49 pounds per night (per room that is) with TCD and that included a buffet breakfast and a managers evening reception with wine, beer and food Monday to Thursday. It also has a gym and internet facilities. I just love it!

Oona, its the Holiday Inn Family Suites now the Nicklodeon at Lake Buena Vista. It was really nice there although you would need a car  .
Staying on site as Mark says in the All Stars or similar is quite reasonable with TCD. l would just find it a bit to small with my lot and l'm not sure how you would get on with 5 of you. l'm not sure you could have a roll away in there.
l'm staying in a condo this November which works out around £33 per night.
l think unless you stay on ID or on site you will need a car. l don't think l would be without one anyway wherever l stayed unless l was spending the whole time in disney.

Where are you going this year Oona.

Second what Mark says. The All Stars is good value especially when you take into account the Disney transport, extra hours of Magic, sending purchases back to room etc etc.

I wouldn't go to Florida without a car UNLESS I was staying on site.. which is what we did. I would feel very trapped without a car otherwise. It was just too big and too spaced out to do anything other than have a car. Then add the heat and then add grumpy hot kids...... etc....

We are staying in a privte house at Davenport. Westridge on Hwy 27.
Stayed in the same house on our last visit which was back in 1998  Was it that long ago :D
Only going to go with DH and 2 x DS as oldest will be starting college .So gets to stay at Grannies Not that hes really that bothered. Promissed him motorbike lessons :wink
Now i have been pricing up with just a basic car from TCD. Just wish they had released their Disney properties for 2006 ( Oct)
Then i could see just how much they would be . Not sure whether to wait and call them to see if they could price it up for me.
Best i have found so far Budget wise is Ramada Inn Maingate with car hire under 1900 for 2 weeks
Off to check trip adviser

Is it THAT bad ? sounds pretty nice in TCD'S write up

Best - Rosen Plaza/Hard Rock
Worst - Ramada Maingate East on the 192 booked with United Vacations one Christmas. Never again.
We were originally due to stay in the Ramada Inn, but we heard so many awful reports about it, we changed six weeks before we were due to fly out there. We saw the hotel during our holiday on a visit to International Drive, and I'm so relieved we didn't go through with our original booking. It looked really run-down and was in a really busy area with lots of traffic noise.
Would definately stay on site again next time we go out there.
Sorry l couldn't do a proper link but these are 2 posts from here. l have never stayed at a Ramada but everything l have ever read about them has been bad.
Just for your info my holiday 2ad & 2kids (4adults price wise) comes to £1800, that flights with Virgin (did get a bit off with airmiles but TCD flight only was cheaper) 2 weeks in a 2 bed condo at Windsor Palms and 2 weeks 4X4 jeep hire with US rent a car.
l wouldn't pay the same price(or more) for a small 3 star hotel.
Hope this helps and l don't sound like some sort of snob

Oooh i don't think you are being snobby at all.
I would call it helpful and patient
I would of cried if i had booked and it was bad
Especially when i have managed to talk DH into going again a year earlier than we planned too . Hense thats why it has to be as wallet friendly as possible, but within reason
Will call TCD in the morning and see if they an give me a price to stay at Disney all stars 'Movies ' i think ... always fancied being in the movies
With Virgin i think it came up at 2300ish. Well worth the extra i think. Better to play it safe than be sorry
Thankyou ALL for rescuing me from a 'hovel' :D
and giving you MUCH APPRECIATED advise

Hi Oona
how about booking a fly drive or flight only now and then checking out some of the hotels when you are there later this year. You could then book the one you liked the best directly when you got back.
Momofffthree

Good idea TinkTatoo, Might even end up just booking a fly drive and staying in Westridge again (Just fancied a try of a hotel ,that bit nearer)
Only thing thats holding me back some is that the Fly drives are 1500.Whilst with accomodation, even at all sports is2300. So only 800 for an onsite.
Going to call TCD later today and have a play around with prices. Just incase i may stumble against the deal of the century :D
Will do :wink mariechez

:
£800 for onsite is more than possible - we paid $90/night to stay at POFQ which is a mod - you can often get All Stars for $60/night - thats dollars, so at the current exchange rate it's very cheap - I think our 2 weeks at POFQ was abotu £750.
Check out www.mousesavers.com for discounted rates.

What is the best way to book a disney hotel been on disney .co.uk and there prices were per person per room is there somewhere i can just book a price for room only as 4 people going and the room would have worked out at £120 per room per night at all stars
tiggerfan144
yes you can book room only disney.co.uk.
My daughter and her friend have booked though them......they got the Caribbean Beach Resort for £70 per night.
I have just had a look on the site and All Stars is £58 per night.
I have booked through Dreams Unlimited and got The Dolphin for £70 per night using AP Rate.
Hope this helps
Kim
Oona, Virgin holidays are showing prices for Oct 2006
Here is one for the Quality Inn Plaza 3rd Oct for 14 days, with return transfers instead of car hire although I don't think basic car hire is much more.

edited to say sorry, I only put in one child for the quote
