View Full Version : Ritz-Carlton afternoon tea ? ?
Has anyone sampled the delights of afternoon tea at the deluxe Ritz-Carlton Grande Lakes hotel off Central Florida Parkway (over by the junction with John Young Parkway).
Apparently they have fresh baked scones and "clotted cream" (just like here in Devon) and cucumber sandwiches with earl grey tea in fine bone china tea cups - sounds delightful.
It's supposed to be a very luxurious hotel, with a AAA 4 star restaurant, but I've never heard of it before . . .
anyone able to help ?
Have seen it and its a fab hotel but never 'sampled' anything.
You'll have to go and tell us all about it.

Mmmmmm, I can feel a cream tea coming on . . .
LOL :D
Steve, trust you to find out about a cream tea!
Now when are you going?
This would be good to try - we did the Grand Floridian Tae and whilst the scones were yummy the "devonshire cream" was just whipped cream and not the clotted variety.

My Mom (who is American and doesn't appreciate the difference between US and UK tea) has been to both the London tea and the Orlando tea. She said that the one in Orlando wasn't nearly as good as in London. I don't know if it was the difference in taste or what but she said she wouldn't be quick to go back.
Part of the Ritz Tea (I think) is the experience and setting. I would just keep an open mind and know that you are getting American versions (of everything) and try not to compare it to what you get in the UK.
My husband and I just moved here (Orlando) and he is a chef and is having to adjust and adapt to the differences.
