Hi
It all seems to be down to luck and when your paying out bundles of cash for your holiday it should be better than that.
You seem to have the deadly duo of La Quinta and Travel City.
Some people on here say they have had a great time but for others it was the holiday from hell.
Good luck and tell us seriously what you thought when you get back.
Terry:wink
We flew with Travel City for the first time this March and found them to be excellent. Food was good for aeroplane food, staff were really friendly etc. We flew from Manchester and it took 7 hours 55 minutes on the way out and 7 hours 7 minutes on the way back. We wouldn`t hesitate to use them again or recommend them. I don`t know much about the La Quinta Inn Lakeside, sorry. When it was owned by Sheraton it was a really nice hotel. Could you contact the hotel direct to find out about the work going on there and then when you know for definite, give Travel City a ring? That`s what I would. Let us all know how you get on.
Fiona.
hill we got back from la quinta inn lakeside nearly 2 weeks ago and i didn't see ANY work going on. i admit the room we had (210) smelt a little damp but an air freshener soon did the trick:wink the sheets were changed nearly every day, towels every day, the pizza hut on site is a god send, the shop is ok but much better to go to walgreens next door. the breakfast buffet was pretty good and the staff always helpful. would i go back to this hotel?...no but that is because our kids are 7 & 8 and to be honest there just wasn't enough room. i think you will still have a great time and lets face it you are always at the parks so it doesn't really matter if the rooms are a little bit shabby:wink
any more questions then feel free to ask away:D

My brother his wife and two kids stayed at Laquinta for ten days last month, he had no complaints about it.
Hi Hill
I have just joined this forum.
I too am going to La Quinta Lakeside with Travel City Direct. Not too bothered about the company but extremely worried about the hotel. I was told that Travel City used a block of unrefurbioshed rooms, which seemed very naughty. I emailed the hotel to check on this and was told that it was true but that the hotel was now under complete refurbishment and that ALL the rooms were now being done up. Also, as from today the hotel is now Best Western Lakeside.
I am hoping and praying that it is OK. I think it is disgusting when you are paying the same as anyone eklse that you should be put into an unfurbished room.
Fingers crossed

Hi there 2 both of you who are worried about staying at La Quinta.
We flew with Virgin, so cannot vouch for TCD flights, I'm afraid, but both myself & my DH, along with my 12 year old DD & 8 year old DS stayed at La Quinta for 10 days at the beginning of last month & we can honestly say that we experienced no problems whatsoever! We, too, were worried after reading some negative reviews & also seeing those awful pictures which a fellow Dibber had taken during their stay there.
Our room was extremely clean & nicely furnished & we had all the amenities we needed during our stay. The maids made our beds, changed our towels every single day & replenished our beverage stocks.... (very important:D )!!
The pools were clean & well-maintained and also in nice, pleasant surroundings.
As mentioned by a fellow Dibber, yes, the room was probably on the small side, especially for 2 adults & 2 children. If the children had been any older, it would have definitely been a bit of a squash....!?!:confused2 Also, didn't think much of the breakfast buffet, but personal preference (we preferred to go elsewhere...!?!?:wink )
Must admit that it looked like there had been major refurbishment work going on very recently; hence the photos mentioned earlier...., but we had no complaints! We were probably just lucky to be allocated a room which had already undergone refurbishment, plus this was our very first time to Orlando, so we really didn't know what to expect with regards to standard of rooms, hotels, etc.
We did take a few photos of both our room itself & the swimming pool area, so if you are interested in seeing them, please feel free to pm me & I will e-mail them to you.
Anyway, hope this helps & puts your minds at rest somewhat
