View Full Version : windsor palms
hiya all ye olde dibbys
has anyone been to windsor palms. we are going in july with my travel and would lub some advice on either.good or bad news...i have broad shoulders.:D
Hi Liz... Windsor Palms is in a great spot, very handy for the parks (4 miles or so from WDW) near the old Splendid China park off the 192. As all the villas are very similar in this area, and all fairly new, you should be fine.
One thing - learn the 'shortcut' route from this part of the 192 to WDW via Sherberth Road - it saves miles and loads of time going to and from the parks. I can describe it in detail if you need it.

Tried to send this by PM, but your mailbox full, so here goes....
Directions to WDW via Sherberth Road from Splendid China area
Hi Liz... just thought I'd try and write something down while it's still fresh in my head.
Leave the Windsor palms complex and turn onto the road leading back to the 192. Before you get to the shopping estate on the left (Outback Steakhouse and a WinnDixie there among others) there is a 4 way crossroads where you could turn right onto a sandy/dirt track. This is often recommended, but can be muddy at times, so I'd carry on ahead instead to the 192 itself. Get in the right hand lane. There are traffic lights, but you can turn right even on red if the way is clear.
Proceed ahead for 1/4 mile, get into the left hand lane (of three) and turn left at the first traffic lights, signed Sherberth Road. Follow this til its conclusion.. it winds about a bit... where you end up at a traffic lit junction joining the Osceola Parkway. Turn right again (unless you want the Animal Kingdom Lodge, in which case it's left) and all the Disney parks are signed ahead of you... you go about 3/4 mile and then turn left across the other carriageway.
When you are leaving WDW follow any signs for Animal Kingdom, and, just after passing the AK entrance, keep left (signed AK Lodge) and at the next set of lights you turn left back onto Sherberth Road.
It's easier than it sounds, honest!:D

We're staying there in August but are a bit concerned about the new road that is being built outside the resort

not to mention the water treatment plant that our villa backs on to.
Apart from these fndings - which I didn't find out about before booking - I've read nothing but good reports. So I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that they won't affect us too much and I'm sticking with my booking.

they were on with the new road when we were there a couple of weeks ago... there was a bit of 'thump-hump' from pile drivers periodically, but the road is well screened from the villas we could see (and stayed in a year or so ago) so I hope you'll be ok.
Besides, you'll be not be there much, and tired out when you are!;)

We are going 2 weeks Friday, we have heard really good reports and www.tripadvisor.com has some good feedback ( normally most peope only post feedback when not very happy) Friends of ours stayed 4 weeks ago and have used other villas in Orlando, thought this place was fab and location very good. If there is anything in particular you want info on, let me know.

thankyou for all da replies and looking forward to hearing all da trip reports
Its' a lovely place and quite set back from the road so I don't think you will hear anything. We stayed there 15 months ago and it was very very quiet
When we were there in August we were wakened at 6.30 in the morning by the sound of piledrivers directly behind our pool. You could feel the floor vibrating!!! At least they didn't work at weekends.
Hopefully it won't be as noisy now and it's only villas at the edge of the estate nearest the 192 that are affected.
