Hi there me hearties
I have just returned from WDW Florida last week where I rode the POTC ride four times in all !!!! (would have ridden more times but the crew protested!).

Anyway, having been on the DLP ride three times last October, I can offer my humble opinion that the DLP version is better in that it has a much longer ride and two drops, compared to WDW's one drop. Also the skeleton scenes are at the end in DLP and are much longer and show the skeleton pirate drinking the red wine (as did Barbossa in the film) and the treasure scenes which are missing in WDW.

However, WDW ride is better in that it has spoken vocals as opposed to only singing in the DLP ride. I have never ridden the DL ride, so can't comment, but in my opinion, a ride which combines DLP's length, drops and extra scenes with WDW's vocal speech, and incorporating more of the film characters, would be awesome!!!!!!!

Has anyone been on the DL version and how does that compare.
Which version do you prefer?

The DL one has a much bigger drop, but only one as far as I can remember and this is going back some 17-20 years!!! I was disappointed with DW and remarked to an employee from DL, who had sat behind us at Fantasmic. It's all to do with the water table, which is higher in DW, therefore the drop couldn't be so steep.

I prefer the DLP version, although there are some scenes from the Disneyland version which I think are better (the Pirates' ship storming the fort is a bit better, and the DL ride seems a bit more cinematic than Paris, which is nice). The Orlando version is very disappointing by comparision.

The WDW isn't a big drop at all, just a little whoosh down hill...you certainly don't get wet or anything, although we act silly and put our arms in the air and make a lot of noise as if it were really big!

Yes, lots of canons being fired in one scene.

There are a few small explosions in the water in the pirate ship / fort battle at the beginning to represent cannon ball fire and some gun shots throughout but certainly nothing to be concerned about, and not too loud.

How does this ride compare with the one at Disneyland California? Are they the same or is there much difference?

The attractions are broadly similar, although some of the scenes are in a different sequence and some scenes only appear in one or other of the versions.

The boat seems to glide more slowly in Anaheim, and that version seems to have a more 'cinematic' feel to it, with better reveals from one scene to another.

The dialogue in the Paris version is in two languages (French and English), but just English in the Anaheim version.

Both the drops in Paris seem steeper and faster.

The exterior setting and queue area in Paris is significantly better than it is in Anaheim.

The Blue Lagoon is also much better in all respects in Paris.

DLC has a bigger water drop than WDW, not sure about DLP can't remember! Also seems longer at DLC to WDW.
