Hey,

Is there any general guidlines to time required at Parks??? I've heard Epcot is a half day park, which parks should i allow full and half days for????

I would have said that Epcot is a whole day park (or two half days). Half a day to do the World Showcase (at least) and the other half for all the rest of the stuff.

EPCOT Half day? Not for me. Ask Mike Jones and he'd move in if they had room!

IMO:
EPCOT: Very full day minimum. I would go two.
MK: Very full day minimum. Again I would go two.
AK: Half to a full day. 10-5 ish for us.
MGM: Very full day.
Seaworld: Full day. Lots pf people like two and they did a free day offer when we went so it was worth going for the two.

Water parks are half days unless you really like that sort of thing.

I've not been to Busch, Universal, IOA (yet!)

Guess it also depends on what you like , but I would agree you need more time then half a day for epcot. We did
epcot two days
magic kingdom two days and a half
animal kingdom two days and a half (we loved it here we were only supposed to be going for one day!)
mgm studios one day
universal studios one day and a half
islands of adventure one day and a half (split between universal and ioa, we prefered ioa)
sea world one day (would have liked more but ran out of time)
blizzard beach one day (stayed there from opening to closing loved it:D )

ps just to give you a guideline my kids are 4,5 and 13

We're all slightly older kids, four of us being in our twenties, and then mum and dad! ! ! ! !

We're spending 14 days out there, and want to see and do as much as possible! and leave time for the odd shopping trip!

A half day to do Epcot ?!?! Are you mad ?

There are so many wee nooks and crannies and so much to see we actually spent two days there. Test track and Mission:Space are absolute must see's. And its so educational and though provoking going through the "Land" and "Living Seas" section as well - cetainly gives you a different slant on Genetically Modified Food thats for sure.

Then you've got a long stroll around the World Showcase watching all the entertainment on offer in every country - one of the things I really hate seeing is all those Little Britain folk haning around England like they had never seen the real thing. Honestly is a warm pint and some soggy chips really that important? - and then you've got some of the most amazing fireworks in the evening.

At the very least give it a full day. Have dinner in the park and watch the fireworks. You won't regret it.

If it was me I would get yourselves all together and have a vote at what you want to do. If you like big rides then Island of adventure will appeal. Maybe because you are all older you will want to do magic kingdom in one day? Epcot would definately take at least one day, there is so much to see there.

Also remember the parks all look very different at night so allow time for evening visits for fireworks.

We only allowed a day for Epcot and ended up whizzing through the world showcase like we were on a marathon walk. Good job we had seen it before otherwise it would have been disappointing not to have got in everything. It is vast so read up on everything that's there and if it's all your cup of tea allow some more time. If you have a hopper pass, you can hop over from other parks if you have time to finish off.

We have been twice and we still have not done Epcot or Bush Gardens.  :rolleyes:Not to worry as we will make up for this next year. I would plan at least one day for each park if you just want to sample what each park has to offer:wink :wink

We are having full days at MK,AK,MGM,Seaworld and KSC and have decided to spend 2 days this time at EPCOT.
Have been to EPCOT twice in the past and still find it hard to believe how much stuff we have missed especially in the World Showcase area.

James ,you will NEVER see everything in a 2/3 week trip..............so you just have to do the only sensible thing............................and go back again..and again...and again, lol

Epcot is definately two days - we spent a day just in the first bit of the park and then another full day in the World Showcase!

It depends what you like, but EPCOT 1/2 a day....no way cant be done...so much goes off and even 1/2 day for world showcase..doable , but realisticaly....no....you will be more stressed than if you had done it a the very peak of the season.

In reality if the parks are busy and waiting times are high then

Epcot perhaps a day, but day and a half
MK= 2 days min as you may want to allocate time for the fireworks and parades especially spectromagic.
MGM= not as big as epcot, but more waiting to see shows and ride the rides bout a day and a half again to do it all in which ever park

IMHO

We've spent 3 1/2 days at epcot so far and I still feel the need to go back again next year. We keep repeating the same bits, of course, but I still haven't done most of the world showcase: we always intend to do the rides bit in the morning and then move round to WS after lunch, but its invariably 6 o'clock before the rest of the family will even set foot in the direction of the lake.

By the time you've seen the Beatles, done the American soldiers, watched the Italian jugglers and been amazed by the Chinese acrobats, the day has run out.

But, amazingly, I do know of someone who doesn't like Epcot. How wierd is that?

I'm getting the impression that planning may be the key to this holiday! ! ! ! ! !

Definately. We only ever properly plan the first couple of days before we get there though, but others do it like a military operation:) Have a read of some of the Trip Reports to give you an idea of what people do.

We spend the least time at MK, with the most at Epcot (opening until closing), followed by AK and then MGM.

Totally agree. The only park we can easily do in a day is AK. The others are 1 - 2 days each! With maybe the odd evening thrown in for extras :D

..:D LOL! Epcot needs at least, hmm... 15 days to fully apreciate... well that's how much time we've spent there so far!;)

Good advice above, I won't argue with it!
