we went in '99,
and i certainly wouldn't say its small, its probably about the size of magic kingdom, theres plenty to do and worth a long weekend if you can't get to florida.

I went in 2001 and had a great time, definately worth staying on site for the fotl access. We spent a week going in and out, lots of shows, couple of good rollercoasters and well themed. I really enjoyed myself and actually preferred it to DLP.

It is very good and not small, try Dragon Khan coaster! and the river rapids. The water park nearby is very good too. You won't be disappointed.

We were in 2003 - the park is excellent and I thought compared well to Florida, although perhaps the rides were not quite so fast.

The water park is excellent, and the beach and front at Salou is very nice, although some of the areas of Salou leave a lot to be desired. Try and make sure you stay at a park hotel or one of the new hotels near the park.

DN went with her mum as she will fly to Spain just not the US - she enjoyed it - not sure about her mum! They stayed in Salou and went back for a couple of visits. They did say they had suffered from the 'European syndrome' re jumping queues etc that can also happen at DLP.

Great place i thought, You could do it easily in a weekend i think but you could be more relaxed and take a week at it and the water park. They usually do shopping trips to Barcalona too.

We went in 2003 and had a fantastic time. We stayed in Salou and as well as Port Aventura, we had a sunshine cruise on a catamarran, a day out at the Nous Camp Stadium and barcelona and a jeep safari which was fantastic!!!
We would go back again if just for the jeep safari!!

DH and I were in Port Aventura last September. We were staying in Salou for the week and had a rental car, although I believe it is very easy to get public transport out to park. The theming is very good and we liked it. It was mid September and the place was quite empty, practically everything was a walk on, lots of the restaurants around the park were closed (didn't matter to us). Friends of ours had been there early August and were queueing 2 hours for some rides!

There aren't as many rides as in Orlando parks, but the park itself was quite big. We got a 2 day ticket but realistically had the park done in a short day, we came back 2nd day for a few hours, but were sorry that we didn't go to Costa Caribe the water park the 2nd day, it looked good. The shops in the park were disappointing compared to Disney. Certainly well worth a visit though! We didn't try Dragon Khan the big coaster, not coaster fans. There was a very good flume ride, we got soaked (Silver something??), did it about 4 times on the trot as we couldn't get any wetter anyway:D There was also a ride similar to Kali River Rapids in AK but it was much shorter and theming not quite as good.

I love Dragon Khan, worth the entrance money on its own.

XFile,
the sunshine cruies stop off at a market and there are good bargains to be had, you also have your lunch there and then its back on the boat to a quiet beach for games though you don't have to join in,we just enjoyed the sunshine.
The Barcelona trip was good, but we would have liked a little longer at the stadium.
The jeep safari was the best, we had a fantastic time, but don't wear your best clothes as you get so dusty, we had dust in our ears for days!!!, but it was worth it, we enjoyed that more than Universal i think.

Rio,
Arrived back home at 2am this morning from Salou. The theme park did not impress me that much, however the Jeep Safari did, although the shower afterwards did make me think that I had brought half the mountain dust home - the water was filthy. It was tremendous.
I'll put a couple of photos on later. Also enjoyed the Barcelona trip.

I went to Port Avenua in 2002 and was not disappointed. It is excellent, with some really good rides.
Plus there are loads of other things to do in Salou and the surrounding area.

Try to go to Tarragona for the day !!!!

I found that the main rides were good, but the side stalls reminded me of a cheap tacky fair.
I did like Tarragona, but not the market, and it was a lovely sunny day.

Bill,
glad you enjoyed the jeep safari, that was the highlight of our holiday and we found dust in our ears for days and it took about 3 washes to get our clothes clean, but it's well worth it!!!
We enjoyed the theme park, but 2 days was long enough, did you ride Dragon Khan??

Love the photos, the first one (can't remember the name, something Splash??)anyway, our boat was climbing as one on the other side came down and we got caught in the tidal wave, we were so wet that we had to go back and get changed, it was 42 degrees C and we were not drying!!!!...lol.
Looks like you had great weather.

i have been with my school

only went for a day but problems with tickets meant we lost about 2 hours of our time in the park.
