I am looking to buy a Digital SLR and very intersted in the Nikon D70. My dilema is do I wait until I go to Orlando in October or do I buy it now as the prices are falling. Also, does anybody have any links to any decent camera retailers in the orlando/kissimmee area that I could have a look at.
Thanks
Paula

Paula, this thread may help here (http://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?s=&forumid=67&threadid=30006) , plus a search should find some others.

Have you looked at the online shopping engines such as dealtime, pricerunner & kelkoo. You could have a search on www.yellowbook.com

Nikon are soon to release a D50 and D70s.

The Canon 350D (Digital Rebel XT in the US) seems to beat the Nikon on all fronts in the online tests I've read. Although having held a 350D I find the grip too small for my large manly hands :)

Hi, did you buy a D70? They are fantastic cameras, I bought one last year and love it. The quality of the pictures is stunning, but you do need a quality CF card such as Lexar Pro to keep up with the camera.

The D50 will be avaliable from Dixons, so you could check for a Tax Free Price from them, they may also do the D70.

the price may be close to US, and be UK spec.

Warranties are an issue buying from the States. You need a "grey" import so it has a WWide warranty, these are normally only available from online companies like B&H.

The 350d is a good camera, but it's small UNLESS you buy the grip and it becomes "Mansized"

My idea would be to buy a 300D ( I have one with firmware upgrade to make it have extra functions of the 10D) there are really good offers around. Unless you are making big blow up posters you couldn't tell the diff between 6 mp or 8mp 300d /350d not worth the extra big diff in price poss £300!

If you are a Nikonite and there are many loyal to either Canon or Nikon then get a D70s, it will only bug you if you don't!!

In a nutshell, risk Lenses, flash cards etc etc from USA but NOT the body, if it goes wrong as the song says......."There maybe trouble ahead"

Get it from Jessops, they will price match the UK cheap companies that advertise in Amature Photographer, Jessops = No hassle returns, even try it and if you don't like it they take it back!!!!
