We have now booked our honeymoon and are going to the Dolphin (really great deal with Virgin!), don't know that much about the hotel, has anyone stayed there, and was it any good?

Excellent choice !!
Hotel is quite breathtaking....lots of places to eat including the fun cafeteria "Chubby Checkers".....
Rooms are nice with "themed" carpets in the hallway
Pool area is nice and big....used to be cocktail waitresses on roller skates
AND also very convenient (qucik boat ride) to MGM and EPCOT...
All in all a great place
PS Congratulations on your forthcoming wedding !!

We were there from Xmas Eve for a few days.
Excellent hotel. Location cannot be beaten, slow stroll over to the Boardwalk and Epcot beyond.
A meal in Blue Zoo is one you won't forget in a hurry, being your honeymoon I'm sure they'll make it even more special.

Thanks guys....we are so excited! Unfortunately not going til next June but am having lots of fun planning it! Do you know how far the other parks eg Universal, Seaworld are from the Dolphin? Also we are mad Dennys freaks (is it me or does american toast and butter just taste so much better than english!?), do you know of any around the vicinity? Thanks for all the help!

I love the Dolphin, you'll have a lovely stay there I'm sure. It's perfectly situated and we loved to stroll over to Epcot or have a wander around Boardwalk, also taking the boat over to MGM is a breeze.
We always drove to Universal and Seaworld. I'd allow 20/25 minutes to get to them
Can't help with the Denny's question I'm afraid.
The ice cream sundaes in the cafe downstairs at the Dolphin (not the 24 hr cafeteria - I thought it was called Tubbies) are delicious!!

There is a Dennys @ Crossroads.

Stayed there for our first night a couple of weeks back before Old Key West. Really lovely, can walk to EPCOT and MGM from there. Fresh is nice for breakfast, somewhat closer then Dennys but a tad more expensive! The room was brilliant, lovely view, dead quiet and the most comfotable bed we have ever slept on. You will really enjoy! Congratulations!!!

There are several Dennys on the 192 - you can either go East or West after leaving WDW and you see one within a few minutes' drive.

Woohoo! Hotel sounds lovely! Is there any sort of room we should be asking for when we check in? Have already requested a king size bed and a non smoking room, but are any better for views, noise etc??? Thanx all x

A balcony room with a fireworks view is best in our opinion.
I would suggest contacting the hotel through their website and making a request. We never had any problems with any noise (although the boat does sound its horn, but we enjoyed that - it added to the experience).

Does anyone know anything about the $10 resort fee per day at the Dolphin? We are going with Virgin and get the newspaper, coffee and health club entry free anyway so we would be paying $10 a day for internet access and telephone calls that we just wouldn't use! Is it compulsory or can you get out of it? Thanks x

We went through Virgins holidays and they told us at check in we were exempt from the resort fee.

Cool! Wasn't sure if we would have to pay it or not, I suppose the one good thing is that there's a Virgin reception on site so I can check with them too! Also how soon do you think I should contact them with regards to rooms? Thanks x

The Virgin desk was closed when we were there last year. Not sure if there are any plans to re-open it. We didn't find it to be a problem as the reception staff were really helpful anyway. You can use the concierge desk to do all your meal bookings as well.
With regards to contacting the hotel, we did it about 4 to 5 months before we went.
