As I understand it, you used to be able to get Big Red over here, but for some reason, Wrigley withdrew it.
Consequently, Mrs Ulsterscot is determined to stock up. How much can we buy without being accosted by customs?
Is there such a thing as a "suspiciously high level" of chewing gum importation?
I presume an entire suitcase full would be out of the question...:confused2
Furthermore, am I right in thinking (hoping!) that the reason they withdrew it over here is NOT that it causes your ears to swell up or some other nasty side-effect? It seems that the FDA is a little more lax than the British authorities when it comes to that sort of thing....
Also, if it contains high grade cocaine or something, I fear that we might be a little delayed on our way home - those pesky beagles would be sniffing our cases like crazy...
Hmmm.... while over there in October, i discovered the joys of 3 Musketeers bars (just like the old Milky ways).
I brought back gazillions of them in all guises (fun size, full size, extra large)
Now having eventually guzzled my way through them all, i went into the American sweetie shop in Aberdeen to try and get some more, only to be told that it is illegal to import them into the UK except for personal use (im starting to feel like a drug dealer here!) because they contain a highly addictive chemical (yes, i know....gimme another one!) that is banned in Europe.
So i say "fill yer breeks"!! Im taking home as much of these guys as i can lay my grubby little hands on!
BTW you can buy that chewing gum in that American sweet shop but its REALLY expensive.......think £7 for a box of kellogs fruit loops and £15 for a 12 pack of Mountain Dew!!
Also you could try Ebay, they sell loads of American sweets on there
Enjoy your hols and DONT be tempted by a 3 Musketeers......you will live to regret it!!!

Highly addictive chemical in the 3 Musketeers? Goodness I hope it's the chocolate cause I live in America....you know...the land where they deep fry these kind of things and serve them with ice cream? And I don't want to give up my 3 Musketeers!

My DD brought back nearly half a suitcase of these packets of gum... the multipacks in Walmarts worked out to be the best value. She's still got some... waving Big Red at the screen... there... get a sniff o' that!

Just Buy a Case full and tell customs they are for handing out on the glorious 12th
The Grouse love em :wink
Not again Mr Ulsterscot. I remember your dodgy dealings from about a year ago. Giraffes and herbal remedies if I recall.
Without giving too much away, you should be ok and avoid the latex treatment.....
Which airport is it you're coming through? Not that I would inform my colleagues of course ...:D
Does this help?

I was looking for York Peppermint Patties (which I love) and found the site. I know they have at least one shop in London.

We get all our supplies from American Soda (http://www.americansoda.co.uk/index.asp). Always a fast efficient service for my essential Root Beer...but he does Big Red too!!

Knock yerself out....unless they want to prosecute you for chewing too much and impose duty on it....doubt they would care.
If i am right they still have it here but called something else...a colleague of mine loves it....will try and find out for tomorrow

That would be greatly appreciated.
It seems to me that the Americans have a fascination for all things cinnamon flavoured but for some reason over here, the producers don't feel there is a market for it...
Hard to work out why that is...
