Just assuming that you knew someone who may (only may ) be considering a trip to DisneyLand Paris, where would you suggest they look for the best deals? And roughly how much would you think for this theoretical family of, ooh, lets see, two adults and two kids aged around 11 and 12? What would they need? - three park days?

Thoughts please. (And not a word to the kids!:D)

Erm who would that be then? :wink

The last time we went we booked cheap flights with Easyjet to Reims Champagne (not sure if they still fly there or not :confused2 ) very cute airport :D and booked the accommodation directly with Disney.

We had 2 days in the parks - just over half a day in the Studios part and 1½ days in the main park. Maybe it was just the time of the year (October) but we didn't feel that we needed more than that.

Maybe get you 'friend' to call Kim?

We went last September and booked through the Co-Op travel agent online. We took advantage of one of the 4 nights for 3 offers and stayed at the Newport Bay Club. We chose to drive, but if we went again, we would definately go Eurostar.

We found this was just about perfect to experience both parks, relax and explore and of course, shop!

Our kids are younger than yours though, so we only did half a day at the Studios as there really isnt that much there for under 5s. One day would probably be enough for anyone though.

We paid approx £750 for the accomodation, ferry and park tickets. I guess another £100 on petrol, road tolls and European breakdown cover.

You can do it "on the cheap" by staying at one of the (very nice) hotels just off site. The bus service is excellent and you pick them up at the same bus stops that you do for the Disney hotels.

Hope "your friend" has fun planning....:D

Hum, hasn't your 'friends' daughter just got back from a school trip to DLP? Must have dreamt it!

As we're in the south of the country we usually drive to DLP (well, the twice we've been). It proably a bit of a hike for you. I think we used Bridge travel once and Cresta the second time - staying at Davy Crockett ranch which, call me cheap!, I love. Its a real easy trip along the motorway into the parks.

Perhaps your 'friend' will write a trip report???:D

Mike

We have done DLP more than a few times. From here up North (!) I have always found it easier to fly to CDG than drive down. We have driven twice, but I don't relish the thought for just a few days.

We flew with BA last time from Manchester and got very reasonable rates on their own internet site.

Easyjet do CDG from Liverpool too.

We are planning to go to DLP in the new year (for my 40th) (by the way, the whole family are coming on my 40th - you couldn't do it any other way could you :wink)

We will stay at Newport Bay. We have tried Davy Crocket campsite, central Paris, NPB and the Disneyland hotel, but we always seem to want to go back to Newport Bay.

I am looking into the price of a suite this time (as a special treat of course) and with my birthday being very early in the new year DLP will still be dressed for Chrismas.

The last couple of times, we have booked accommodation via the DLP website. Deals on DLP seem to be few and far between.

Anybody know where the DLP discounts / bargains are hiding?

I think discounted prices for on-site hotels are few and far between. Outside of the winter period DLP has a very high hotel occupancy rate (mostly fully booked) so there is no need to discount. During the winter there is normally a "4 nights for 3" type promotion, but as the winter is not the best time to visit I'm not sure that I would recommend this for the first-time DLP visitor.

If you can get a cheap flight to CDG (then catch the VEA Shuttle to DLP) I think booking everything independently is a better way to go than a package tour. Some of the newly built 'partner' hotels, such as My Travel Explorers or the Holiday Inn offer reasonable rates if you book direct, and some of them have family suites which offer a bit more space than booking a regular hotel room. I think Bev has recently booked direct with via the Holiday Inn website and got a cheaper price than a package tour.

Another way to get discounts is to either buy annual passes or buy shares in EuroDisney, both of which offer discounts on accommodation and on food/shopping in the resort. However, this only makes sense if you intend frequently to visit DLP.

If you can get to London easily I would strongly recommend you catch the Eurostar. This is wonderfully convenient for DLP, and maximises your time in the parks on your arrival and departure days.

We have booked direct on the disney land paris site, very easy. We drive over catching the ferry:D We booked direct with the ferry company, Brittainy ferrys do some really good deals and Po do too. We have tried both and there is not to much between them.
If you are driving then the davy crockett ranch is brilliant to stay in lovely swimming pool there however I was a little dissapointed with the accomodation. If you like style and a lovely looking hotel its the choice of the Newport bay too for us:D
I would recommend a three day ticket, first day in magic kingdom second day at the studios although you may find you have time to go back to the kingdom, the third day you can hop between both parks thats what we do.
If you are going for a couple of days try to get a look at asterix parc thats a brilliant place and thats not too far down from DLP.
I think your "friend" should definately go and book:D

Hi,

Having been to DLP a 'few' times, we now book everything seperately and go when there's a good deal. On our last trip 9th - 14th April we managed to get Eurostar tickets for £39 pp return on the direct service and stayed in the Holiday Inn for 59 Euros per night (room for 4 but no breakfast). As we already have AP's the holiday was very cheap (£360 for 4 of us for 5 nights)

If you don't get a package then it's worth considering the AP's as they cost a similar amount to 3 days entry. (what they don't mention is that get a discount off each AP which increases the more AP's you purchase, i.e. our dream passports cost 127 instead of 149 Euros as we purchased 4 in one go). Also with these AP's you get 10% off in all shops and Resturants (excluding carts) + other benefits.

Good luck.

As rob says, I've just booked up - 3 flights from Ncl, room at Holiday Inn, and 3 Annual Passes is coming in just under £800 (that's for 4 days, 3 nights in August)

I would guess for your family, you are looking at £1000 including flights and onsite, less if you can drive and stay offsite (I have a friend who stays at one of those very cheap hotels whose name escapes me, for about 25 Euros a night, she lives near the Chunnel and drives there and can do a trip for about 1/5 the price I can.

I priced up going in August for 3 nights/4 days. Our preference is to drive (so we can stock up on wine/beer), use Le Shuttle and stay in the Davy Crockett (our fave DLP residence). Cost including petrol, rac cover etc was approx £1000 for the 4 of us.

We flew easy jet...cheap if you book in advance (when is your friend thinking of going?) and then you could get a train (dead easy) or a shuttle to the park. A friend of mine stayed recently at the Kyriad hotel which is walking distance from the parks and really good value...she said it was great! I have stayed at the Newport bay and the Sequoia Lodge and probably preferred the Sequoia Lodge (indoor pool!) although both were brilliant hotels.

A more economical way might be to make the visit part of a holiday. We are doing this this summer, 7 nights in a gite at Mouroux (10km from DLP) which sleps 4 and crossing with Eurotunnel. Cost us £700 with Welcome Breaks holidays. Plus we get a chance to look around the rest of the area and a couple of day trips into Paris on the train.

I am just back from 5 days at DLP. We stayed at the Marriott d'Ile-de-France, a timeshare resort 5 mins drive from DLP (closer than Davy Crockett Ranch). The 2-BR Town house was the best accomodation we have ever stayed in at DLP - and the best value. We rented it for cash booking on-line through www.marriott.com

Biggest tip has already been given - get AP's. We bought Fantasy AP's which are valid for 345 days a year. Nominal cost = €119 However because we were buying 4 we had a 15% family discount, reducing the cost to €101 each. A 3-day hopper costs €99 (€79 for children aged 3-9). With the APs you get free parking (saving €8 a day) and 10% off all merchandise and restaurant spend - including character breakfasts/lunches/dinners.

We take our car over on the Chunnel Shuttle. Its a 3 1/2 hour drive to DLP from the Tunnel, plus each way tolls of €18.70 or so. You can get 5-day returns for £150.00.

Did lots of research to find a cheap way to vist DLP from here 'up-North', but eventually after much searching we booked the following:-

Flights with www.Jet2.com (http://www.jet2.com) for £50.00 each return from Leeds Bradford to CGD.

For cheap Eurpoean flight deals we looked at www.SkyScanner.net (http://www.skyscanner.net)

We booked MyTravel Explorers with www.Expedia.co.uk (http://www.expedia.co.uk) at £68.00 per night for 4 bedded room (it's on the route of the 54 bus).

As has been said elswhere the Airport Shuttle with www.VEA.fr (http://www.vea.fr) is only €14 each way.

It's going to be the kids first visit (boys 4 & 2) can't wait. :jump:
