Hi Jules,
We went 2 years ago for the Character breakfast, and we loved it. Our DD was thrilled with the characters who came and spent time at each table. The food was very good, especially loved the Mickey shaped waffles! The restaurant was in an amazing setting. We would recommend it.

The reports are mixed, I know. We are one of the families who didnt like it at all - it was probably just our luck to have poor service, oversmoked and tough meat and to be stuck in a corner where we were ignored all night. I can honestly say it is not for us again. However my very best friend who raved about it and recommended it to us goes back every time and loves it.

We have been 4 or 5 times and have loved it each time, although I have to say the quality of the entertainment has differed drastically from great to virtually non existent. It is definately one of those restaurants that has good nights and bad nights.

Watch out though, when we went there with my family they asked for ID from my sister and nephew before serving them drinks, as my sister didn't have ID she had to drink coke while nephew tucked into his beer, just weeks after his 21st birthday. Sister was disgusted as she is 31 and it was her son's 11th birthday party!!

We loved our eveing at Ohana. It was such fun for the adults and children.

We were lucky, our food was fantastic, our server "Cousin Ron" was the best (even giving us all free backscratcher cocktails so we could each have a backscratcher:cool: ).

And we timed it just right so we could watch the Electrical Pageant going past.

We were staying at the Poly at the time, so I guess that made the evening even more brilliant since I could actually have a little drinkie or two without having to drive back to whatever hotel.

In our opinion, well worth it and for the amount of food - really you get a three course meal only HUGE - it was pretty good value for money, $75 for the three of us.

Been twice for dinner.

First time was ACE...we had a window table overlooking the castle, a great server and the food was out of this world. Was one of the best meals of our trip.

Did it last year and was disappointed. Mainly the food let it down - the rib was red raw, turkey was dry as a bone and the pork cremated to oblivion. However, the starter platter was lovely and the server was brilliant.

So, yes, it is hit and miss. However, I think its one of those places you have to try yourself. If you get a good day, then you will love it!

Sorry I cant be more positive, although we are staying at the Poly this year and are prepared to give it another chance as our first meal was so lovely!

sorry, but we have to agree with margaret, very bad service, food was not that bad when we got it, the server was very rude and we had to keep asking for the food, with long waits in between, ds didnt really like any of the food so we asked for more bread for him and he tutted at us and stormed away and brought him two pieces, i think this would have been a much better experience if the sever had been different as there where lots of very happy people around us, susie

We love it here, it'e one of our favourite restaurants and have been there 4 or 5 times without a problem. The kids loved the fun games they held and the food (especially the starters) has always been excellent.

We've also been to the character breakfast which we also really enjoyed.

I guess a lot does depend on the server you get though, but we have certainly hit lucky every time.

It's been a while now - but we had a fantastic evening there in Dec 2001 - the food was lovely, the setting perfect and the service was top-notch

We've only been once, had a nice night but not overly superb - nothing I could particularly fault, we just weren't wow'd like we had heard we would be. I do think that is one problem with the boards, you hear how wonderful places are and then you build up very high expectations and if they are just ordinary you can be disappointed.

We went last year and it was our best night out. We had wonderful service and the food was great. We will definately be going back. We were a little woried when we had booked it and then checked on here and saw some bad reports, but as I said above fantastic.

Guess we will go with an open mind and will report on it when we get back. Where is the best place to sit for entertainment and to see the fireworks though?

Unfortunately, you dont get a choice of table, but you could try requesting a window seat to get to see the fireworks. The entertainment goes on all around, so you wont miss that. Although if the idea of 57 kids doing the hula round you whilst you eat fills you with dread, ask for a table near to the far right, as this is the quietest zone!!

We had a wonderful meal at Ohanas. We got there about an hour before our p.s. and I asked in my nicest voice if it would be possible to have a window seat with a view of the fireworks. They noted it down and said it could not be guaranteed. We waited about an extra 1/2 hour after our p.s. time but it was definatley worth it. They pipe the music in and watching the fireworks finished of the evening perfectly. There is a bar there so I had a couple of lovely cocktails while waiting.

Oh....I forgot to mention......we LOVED Ohana!!!!! :jump: :jump: :jump:

Here is my description from our Trippy:

"We were seated very quickly for dinner after being given our ‘orientation’ of the restaurant. We first had our platter of starters, which included a salad (with yummy honey and lime dressing), honey and coriander chicken wings, shrimp wonton, green beans with onions and some dipping sauces. It all came along with pineapple and coconut bread, but being a Yorkshire man, I made sure I didn’t eat too much of that, when the skewers would be on their way soon. Skewers arrived at our table very regularly with steak, pork, turkey and shrimp and was all yummy! Our server (Marco) was very laid back (to suit the restaurant) but was very efficient. We had non-stop refills and attention. The kids enjoyed taking part in the coconut races and hula hoop dancing."
