 We have booked an upgraded room at YDC to a water view - VH said it was all they had available! However I've just been on VH website & they now have standard rooms available too. The upgrade is expensive £644!! Do we keep this room or change it ? Does anyone know what the standard room views are eg carpark etc? Help would be appreciated.
Thank you

Hi Ottilie - what side are you staying - Yacht or Beach?
Unfortunately the water view rooms are very expensive and you'll have to weigh up weather the view is important to you if you will be spending time in your room. The majority of the standard view rooms overlook the front of the resorts, i.e. car parking area, loading/unloading area, staff break area, although there are some standard views at the side of the resort overlooking the gardens. I have stayed in both standard and water view rooms and being honest if I was spending a fair time in the room I would be happier with the water view room - it wasn't quite the same sitting out on the balcony overlooking the car park.

I would change it.
I have read on the DIS Resorts board that "Water View" can mean a very poor view of the "tributary" that runs between Epcot & MGM. Many have been disappointed with this.
Virgin charge an extortionate amount for upgrades...we have booked a standard room at AKL and they wanted £600 to upgrade to a Savannah view. I intend to do it myself at resort as I have heard it is MUCH MUCH cheaper.
I would definately change it (you arent in your room long enough to pay £600 for a "view" in my opinion). Make sure Virgin dont try and charge you for changing it either.

have to agree with rusty30 here, We now book the cheapest room avaliable anywhere, then book the WDW portion direct.
In fact we do all our bits via expedia now, last vist saved over $1000 on virgin book price with 5 days in AKL.
give virgin a call, all you can loose is the time and cost of the call.
£644 buys a lot of grest meals and extras.

:jump: Thank you. I'd never thought about up grading at the resort, although I suppose you run the risk thay may not have the type of room you'd like during busy periods. VH have said that there will be a charge if we update our booking.
