we've just come back from our second trip to orlando, and we've decided that magic kingdom is our least favourite park, we think it's too busy, theres not that much to do and the eating options aren't that good, don't get us wrong we like it but if we'd have realised earlier we would have only gone ther one day instead of two.
We were just wondering if anyone else feels the same or are we just weirdo's?
Lee and Tracey
I have to agree from an adults perspective the eating options are very poor in the magic kingdom, other than that I do still love the park though the addition of the Stitch Ride last year was a huge dissapointment...
We usually use the option of getting to the MK very early and doing it before the crowds even arrrive.. Its a pity it doesn't have anything to compare to the wonderful Walts restaurant on Main St or the Blue Lagoon in PotC at DLP where you can leisure sometime away in the park over great food and wine...

I have to say that it is a little wearing now that DD is older .. but have to go back so she can do the mountains.
Though i don't mind a burger in Pinochios (sp) place ? or the breakfast at Chrystal Palace.
I think the good thing this year is that we have 21 day passes and a 5 park flex so we can basically come and go as we please.. though last year in october/Nov it was absolutely heaving with people on a 'quiet' day!! put me right off..
but at the end of the day it is only a short monorail ride to some of the nicer restaurants at the monorail resorts.
I enjoyed having a little break from MK for a 'beer' at the poly...sitting on the very quiet beach for half an hour was just lovely when MK was fit to bursting.

WE didn't even bother with MK when we went in 1999 and the previous time only went one day. It just didn't seem 'us' somehow.
Last year however, was our first as parents - and DD (4) LOVED the place. Her enjoyment was defiantly infectious and I saw it in a very different light.
I do agree with Shelly though that it was crowded even when the other parks were very quiet so i'm glad we've bought the 14 day tickets for this trip so we can pop in - do a couple of rides and move on when it gets busier! :D

We love MK:D :D :D :D It has to be the first and last park we visit when we go. Our kids are 8 and 12, but we all get a buzz from the place.

I first took my kids to WDW when they were 7 and 9 and they disliked the MK with a vengeance. I dont care for it either but I always go for a few hours each visit. I just have to see the castle to feel that I am actually there. I think if I had brought them when they were younger they would have been more appreciative. I love to see the little ones enjoy the magic but dont tend to linger.

I LOVE MK! It is the essence of all things magical and Disney for me- It just makes me feel like I'm actually there when I finally get onto some of my favourite rides, like HM and PotC!

Everyone's entitled to their own opinion and not everyone has the same favourite park.
I think this year we're just going to do the Keys to the Kingdom tour and spend a short time there for POTC and the bakery on main street (yum!) as we prefer the other Disney parks. I like the magic/kitsch of the Magic Kingdom but I wouldn't spend more than a day there on a holiday now unless I had kids with me or was going for longer than 2 weeks.

I love it - maybe because my boys are still young, 3 and 4 last visit.
I would hate to miss POC, Haunted Mansion, Dumbo, Pooh Bear ride, Teacups, Philarmagic etc etc and of course the pineapple dole floats!

I'm mixed about MK: we've spent a total of 8 full days in the DLP equivalent (before we went to WDW) and so felt we knew it well.
We've been for 3 days in the WDW one. I agree its horrbily crowded at times - but hey! that's what the UK time difference is for - get up at 6 every morning and beat the crowds.
There are bits we never go to : the toon town bit for instance. But I cannot imagine going to Orlando and not doing the mountains. And I love the feel of froniter land.... I could sit around there all day.
But I also hate Haunted Mansion and I'm not keen on Buzz.... but Mickey's Philarmagic is so good...
and nothing will top the expression on my DD's face during Spectromagic...... that was worth the trip in itself
So, what I was trying to say was its got some unmissalbe bits, no matter how many times you've been, and its too big a park to get trhough totally in one day, so pick your best bits and do those.
It will be the first park we visit next time.... as the last two times! There's something aobut starting your Orlando hol with a visit to MK...

mk is my absolute favourite. i love the way you can tell the different lands by the sounds and smells - every land has a unique character of it's own. i love all the parks, but think mk is what disney is all about, and with life was really as perfect as walts dream.

We love the MK...... Wishes, Spectromagic & Mickeys Philharmagic all excellent roll on Oct.
LEE.......
Goodness me and dd could have just visited MK and been happy, I think it will be many years before she outgrows it, she is 5 now, now Epcot for me seems a little pointless!
Fav Disney Park is MGM, other fav's IOA and US. MK comes way down the list for us we didn't go last yr. Want to go again though for BTM. Buzz ride and a few other. Haven't seen Wishes and Spectro yet so want to do this next time.
I would actually like to go on Peter Pan, Winnie the Pooh and a Small World again but no one will go on with me.
There's only me and hubby, but we love it. Think its in tied 1st place with Epcot. Something about walking into it first thing in the morning and hearing the music and seeeing all the vintage vehicles taking people up Main Street.......makes me get goose bumps. Also like that time of just as its getting dusk. Lights are coming on and music on Main Street seems to change and you know it wont be long until the fireworks and........maybe I'm just a big kidor an incurable romantic!

I agree about the Magic.
We went to Florida for the first time last year and went to MK on the first day. Nothing (holidaywise) will surpass that felling when you stood a the end of the street and saw the castle in all its glory. It brings tears to my eyes juts thinking about it.
Can't wait to go again

We were suprised to see the opening ceremony this year, had never heard anyone talking about it, so that was a nice suprise
I love MK.
I love all parks to be fair..but mk has that magic 'something' that flashy rollercoasters can't compete with.
I can understand why it may not be everyones favourite and it wouldnt be normal for us all to be the same.
But for me..seeing my little girl crying tears of happiness when she met Belle at 'Story time with Belle' and the lump I felt in my throat when my family and i watched 'Wishes' together is priceless and unbeatable.
Magic Kingdom is my favourite park, I really love it there. Our two sons love MGM the best because that`s where the dreaded Tower of Terror and Rock `n Roller Coaster are!! Epcot is my husband`s favourite and it`s also my second favourite. As far as I`m concerned, Splash Mountain is the best ride ever!!

Must say although I like MK I think it is a bit dated now compared to the other parks. I agree though you have to see the castle for the real disney feeling! and it is a must for younger kids.
