Hi - I am planning to go to Alton Towers in a couple of weeks to celebrate my 30th. I am going to take my 2 DD's 9 & 5 - to hopefully break them in a bit with rollercoasters etc. Is this a good idea or could I put them off before we even hit disney in Nov?

It depends on what the kids are like. I know that mine (11 & 5) find the roller coasters a bit much at Alton Towers and it may put them off. There aren't many rides (except Mine Train, Rapids and Log Flume) that are 'in-between' rides.

The 9 year old is full of bravado at the moment - but is quite likely to bottle it just before we get on. Although I know if I can get her on she will love it!!!!

To be honest getting the 5 year old onto anything will be a result as she has never done anything like that.

I agree with Ian, most of the rides at AT are quite extreme so it largely depends on your children.

My DD (9) has ridden them all BUT she is a coaster fan (dunno where she gets that from ;)) and is very tall for her age, most of the kids in her class wouldn't make the height restriction, and claim they wouldn't go on them if they could!

Only you know your kids.

there was an offer in the sun newspaper last week giving you one nights accomodation at either of the Alton Towers hotels inc addmision to the waterpark for just £99 per room (4 people ). I snapped it up and we are all going in the middle of june as a prelude to our trip to Orlando in Sept. Also got a good offer on tickets to the park !!!

you dont need the paper to book this offer ..... just quote "the sun offer" if you call the booking line
