It is a full day job, and a very good day out.:wink :wink :wink It is about 45 to a hour drive from Orlando, depending on what ticket you buy, Max pass is best, you also have access of the Astronauts Hall of Fame. Make sure you take the tour and catch a IMAX movie. It's quiet a relaxing day out and a welcome relief from the crowds.

:D :D :D

So would I as I have heard that you can use your passes (maximum access ones) on two consecutive (I think) days if you want.

We agree with Jools, it is a full day, and your kids will love it!! The IMAX is just "out of this world", just check on the show times as it is very popular. We're back in November and shall be visiting KSC once again.

Its an excellent day out, but you can't see it all on one day if you want to do the tours as well as both Imax films.
If I remember rightly the cost of 1 days admission is $38 and the cost of an anual pass is $45 or thereabouts.
We bought annual passes in January and went 2 days, then visited again in April, taking in the Astronauts Hall of Fame which is about 8 miles before KSC. This can be done in a morning and has a great 4G simulator.

i actually found it quite boring! it seemed to involve moving from room to another watching films, and generally being lectured. really not for me.

My advice is that if you wish to go on the shuttle launch pad tour make sure you book in advance on line as when we spent the day there early April this year we arrived at 9.30 and all the tours were fully booked for that day. only consolation was that we saw the shuttle being pulled out from the plane on the way back!

I thought as much doesnt sound like its for me either my partner will probably enjoy it but i am not just going to keep him happy we have both said whatever we do we have both got to want to do it so ksc is off the list.

We're going. DD is a space nut and DH just wants to be over awed! I'd rather be doing something else - but I have heard it is a brilliant day so I will be tagging along ....

Got to disagree with you on this one. KSC is one of the most relaxing and interesting days you can do. My children have loved it from the first time they went there, DD was 6 and DS's were not quite 4. They loved watching the turtles down by the memorial and the IMAX just blew them away. KSC allows so much hands-on, it would be hard to be bored IMHO:D

If you're a teacher & can prove it eg Union card then you have access to their education block & loads of free material.

You might be surprised! We went just 2 weeks ago, I am the space buff and my DH isn't into it at all, he prefers ocean/sea related things. KSC was 'my' day out and Seaworld his and he ended up enjoying KSC more than he did Seaworld:D He was really surprised, it's hard not to be awed just by the sheer size of the Saturn V rocket for example. We were in KSC for about 7 hours, had a standard pass (knew we wouldn't have time for Hall of Fame) and still didn't get to see everything, we didn't get to any of the Imax films (next time :wink )

I think you will enjoy it more if you are interested in space things. I wanted to go but my hubby and kids didnt. I did enjoy it very much but they thought it was boring. It takes one full day to do the max pass inclusive tour and both imax films and see most if not all of the exhibits. We went to the hall of fame on the way home. If you get your ticket signed at the desk on the way out it is valid for the next day free. You can pay extra to take additional tours.
