Warbirds Adventures update after the recent loss of one aircraft in a tragic accident thats currently under investigation

Due to the smaller T-6 fleet, we will not be offering flights in Kissimmee until about Aug 1, 2005. We are still working on the Hurricane damaged #1 airplane and should finish it by then. We will of course post updates on the restoration and if we finish early, we'll announce it here.

Update May 29, 2005
The #1 airplane has wings and canopies installed, but still has a ways to go. Since we are lacking airplane for the summer season, the T-6 operations in Florida will grind to a halt on June 6. As soon as the #1 airplane is finished, we will start flying there in Florida again. The helicopter operations will continue on a daily basis in Florida for the summer.

UPDATE Thursday, June 2, 2005

The video tape and metallurgical review by the investigation team is scheduled for Monday, June 6. Since we are party to the investigation, we will be present and once the facts are public, we will post them here.

We are currently looking for information about the South African Air Force's inspection procedures in regards to the attach angles. We already have a formal request in with the embassy, but if any of our customers would have any details, please contact us as soon as possible. We have the procedure in hand already, but we are looking for historical data about what they based their 600 hour interval on. Any and all information would be appreciated.

UPDATE Wednesday, June 8, 2005

Emergency AD 2005-12-51 has been issued. Follow these instructions and submit as soon as possible. Once the FAA has received enough reports, the AD will be amended. It is very important to the entire Warbird community that these instructions are followed exactly and that the reports are collected in a timely fashion. You need Adobe acrobat reader to view this document. Our earlier inspection procedure posted on May 23 is now superseded.

WOW quite a shock to hear of this, I flew in one of the Warbirds T6 aircraft last year and it was a great experience, very sad that such a tragedy has happened.
