View Full Version : Val D'Europe - DLP
Hiya,
I'm going to DLP in July - as per countdown and am curious about Val D'Europe. Has anyone been there? Is the shopping good? Is it cheap? Has anyone been to the Sea Life Centre there and is that any good?
Let me know if you can answer any of my questions.
Many Thanks
Jenny
Hi Jenny,
I went to Val D'Europe on a trip to DLP in 2003. I did not rate it very much to be honest. I thought it was expensive and did not think there was a very good selection/variety of shops there. It may have improved since I last went so I am sure that someone else will be along to give you a more up to date opinion than mine. I think I went there with high expectations, i.e. comparing it to Premium outlets etc in Orlando, so perhaps that was my mistake. As I say it may well have improved lately.
With regard to the Sea Life Centre, sorry don't know about this as I did not bother going to it.
Hope this helps

Hi Jenny
We went in January this year. I didn't really like the shops that much either but the sealife centre is really good. It is good value for money. It is quite similar to the sealife centres in England, if you have been to those?

Hi, i've been in 2003 and last year.I loved the hypermarket primarily for the food selections and they did have some nice stuff in there. The outlets there are not cheap, but do sell some unusual stuff and one offs.If you've been to florida you will not find any bargains put it that way ,but there are nice eateries at reasonable prices.Sorry i too did'nt do the sealife centre.

Agree with everyone else's comments. I thought the shops were over-priced and it was one of the few shopping areas that my DW walked away empty handed. We also used the supermarket for some supplies for the hotel room.
Thank you everyone for your responses. Overall sounds like quite an expensive place but then I suppose compared to somewhere like Florida....well most places would be hard to compare for value for money.
Maybe I'll stick to the hypermarket and leave it at that....can't beat good, french food by any stretch of the imagination!

Also thought the stores were quite expensive but they did do some nice baby close in the Ralph laren sho which was good as was able to buy my friends some nice clothes for her new baby. There was a stall selling crepes and they were nice but not really a lot to write home about.
How long does it take to get to from DLP, I've got to weigh up the pros and the cons!

It takes about five/ten minutes on Train. You catch the train from Disney Village, and it is the next two stops along. The shops are then just across the road from the train station
Lovely Joey, thank you for answering.
If you are staying onsite. they can arrange a small minibus to take you and bring you back when you are ready. It cost very little, I just can't remember exactly how much.

Went last week, can recommend the hypermarket, bought all our wine there.
Also went back for an evening meal to the Chinese Restaurant as a change from Disney food. We all 4 had the set menu which was great value for money & delicious food.
I think it was called the China Dragon, well used by the locals which I think is always a good sign.

That sounds really good, I was hoping they'd have some good eateries because I don't think I can afford some of the Disney restaurants every night :(.
I'll make a note of that one, thank you :D

hi, the supermarket is called Auchan - pronounced Ocean is well worth a trip. It's my daughters local supermarket, as she is a cast member at DLP. We buy coffee pods for our Senseo machine. They are almost £1 cheaper than in the uk, so we tend to clear the shelf of our favourite one!
Hubby gets his wine from there, less than 2 euro's a bottle, and the nicest he's had.
It's a long walk from one end to the other. Auchan is closest to the train station, the food court is right at the other end.
There's a Casino restaurant, Hippopotamus(Steaks) Paul(speciality breads) chinese, MacDonalds, Pain de terre. plus a few others. There is no shortage of places to sit and just relax. One of them being big leather chairs circling a piano - nice to sit listening to relaxing music ofter a hectic shopping expedition!
Hope this helps.

Thank you Sally, that was very helpful, especially the part about the cheap wine, the boyfriend will be most pleased ;)
