been to cyprus but much prefer Turkey, Belek is lovely, although not for everyone as it is 85% Russian and only 5% English, although all hotels are 5 Star and on the beach, it is very reasonable to get there as well.

Ive been to Cyprus year before last and we stayed at Protarus not in the main town as quite noisy but a quieter part of it at a place called Pernerna(sp) beach. It was a great hol friendly people most locals speak english some great bars and places to eat, water sports amd boat trips. We stayed in apartments called Ausonia Park. We went 1st week in August Very hot but would go back again we couldnt afford Florida so 4 of us got a late deal for under a £1000 when there were no late deals for Florida

I would recommend Protaras in Cyprus to anyone, sadly haven't been for 3 years, but we use to go every year even twice a year sometimes for about 8 years and my aunt and uncle have been going at least once every year for about the past 13 years. Its such a nice place and the locals are so friendly esp towards children (me and my sister use to have such a nice time). One piece of advice i'd really give though is if takign children try to avoid mid july to mid august it gets far too hot. We was there end of june once and the weather was in the 40's.
Regarding hotels would dependon wether you wanted a hotel or apartments I cant really remember names of many places as some years I was young and didn't really take much notice but I will ask my mum.
If you look on www.libraholidays.co.uk they have quite, well use to have quite a selection we went with them every year.
I was in Cyprus June 2002. We were staying in Limassol and had a rental car so did a lot of driving around. I really loved it as there is so much history to the island, it wasn't just a sun holiday. Paphos was lovely and I would like to stay there sometime, we just went there on a day trip to see the town and Valley of the Kings (or some similar name? this was really interesting). Would definitely go again sometime.
we went to limassol in 2001 and it was lovely we went in may and the weather was just right.
last year we went to ayia napa and loved it plenty to do for kids as there is a massive water park down the road but the weather was scortching as we went end of july.
thinking of protaras next year.
my mum and dad live in paphos and we visit quite alot,i would definately recommend this part of the island to you, good water park there ,nice restaurants great place for a relaxing holiday, very hot july and august

I too would go to protarus but in quiet area it is great place to stay and everyone is so friendly.
I'm going to Protaras (Pernea) on Wednesday, last minute all inclusive deal. Hope everyones friendly as I'm going on my own, other half can't get time off work!
Have been to Ayia Napa years about 9 years ago! was good then but now wanted a more relaxing week off.
A friend of mine at work goes every year and she just loves it.

I'm sure Paphos has some clubs but its mainly a quieter faily orientated resort and nightlife revolves around the evening meal. We always eat (and stay) just out of Paphos in the villages so I can't help on that one.

We've just come back from a week in Protaras (Fig Tree Bay). We stayed at the Capo Bay Hotel.
I would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone - but be warned: it does get hot!.

I love cyprus. We stayed in a private apartment near pernera and it was amazing. You could walk into Protaras but far enough away for it to be quiet

Hi Charlene,
We spent a fortnight in Paphos 2 years ago during July/August. You'll be spoilt for choice restaurant wise, there are plenty to choose from. One I would definitely recommend is "Fat Mamas" on Tomb of the Kings road. It's always busy so best to arrive early or maybe book ahead. The menu is great & portions are huge. Staff are also fantastic & frequently put on an impromptu how, singing & dancing! Another lovely restaurant serving Chinese food is "Phuket", also on Tomb of the Kings Road. "Chloes", another Chinese restaurant in the Harbour area is another lovely place to eat. There are loads of seafood restaurants too, but sorry I can't recommend any because I don't like seafood! Even if you're accommodation is not nearby, buses run very frequently & are only 50p no matter where you are going within Paphos!
For nightlife, most people head to what's known as "Bar Street". Lots & lots of pubs & a few clubs. Can't remember the name of all of them - "Bubbles" & "Woodies" are two that I remember.
You'll have a great time, weather is HOT too!

Went to Cyprus last year, paphos, stayed in the Phaethon Beach Club Hotel, all inclusive. It was fantastic, rooms were nice, kids club were the best, and the food was out of this world. There was a full buffet by the pool everyday from 10-6, and you poured your own drinks(amazing). coffee shop in the foyer has the best cakes and pastries youll ever taste and its all free!!!

I absolutely love Paphos. We went in Sep 2003 and are going back this September. The people are lovely, the food is wonderfull and there is loads to see and do. If you like day trips and seeing the sites its great as theres loads of history in the area. Also the Troodos mountains are beautiful and a jeep trip up them is unmissable. I would recomend hiring a car while your there to really get about the island. They drive on the same side of the road as us and the motorways are almost empty! If you want any more info let me know :)

Another vote for Paphos !!
Been twice and the plane is warming up its engines for our next weeks trip on Wednesday!!
Paphos is the "quieter" end of the island, but the scenery up in the Troodos mouintains, or the Akamas peninsula is, to coin a phrase, "gorgeous" !!
People are really friendly..all in all, you will have a great time!!

If you want to try something slightly different, there is also the North.
I recommend www.denzikizi.com for a hotel

Another vote for protaras and the Capo Bay hotel. Good restaurants, nightlife if you want it (Ayia Napa is a short taxi away if your that way inclined) but far enough away if your not. Great beach, i think it's called fig tree bay?

We are going to Florida this year and it is our first family holiday and my first time abroad.
Everyone keeps telling me that once i have been abroad once i will want to keep going. So looking at a holiday for next year.
Would anybody recommend Cyprus as an ideal family holiday destination?
My boys are 4 and 2 at the moment but would be 5 and 3 by the time we went.
Is there a lot for the kids to do? My children get bored quiet easily and i would prefer to be a bit more active than just laying by the pool all day.
Thanks everyone.

HI,
I would recommed it for kids deffently, though I must say me and my sister were teenagers when my mum used to take us not as young as your two children. But the most important advice I would give to you with your children so young DON'T go in july or august.
I don't really know of much stuff to do for young children as I was more of a sunbathing person hehe but I'm sure there are things and the local people over there are so friendly its just such a nice place.

We've just closed a deal to Paphos next Easter in April school holidays. £1172 flights for 6 with BA. £1100 two weeks in a four bedroomed villa with pool. £600 for two cars for two weeks from airport( a 4 x 4 and small 4 door yaris) So, thats £478 pp (or £378 without car price built in). Pretty good IMO.
We too our two a few years back ages 4 and 6. Now they will be 8 and 10. This time I think they will enjoy the relics as well as everything else. Last time they enjoyed the pool, sea, boat rides and villages.(They met and played with a little cypriot lad in one of the villages, my mother and father have since met him again and kept in contact with them so it will be good to meet again with him)
Cyprus is one of the nicest places that I have ever been to. Last time I went was a few years ago. We stayed on the outskirts of Protaros, at Pernera and we were on the outskirts of that too. Which meant less tourists and less tourist prices.
We stayed at the Kama apartments, which was fine. The nicest thing about that holiday was the quite little tavernas. I'm the type who likes to go away and eat the local food, and the food was delicious. The wine was cheap and it cost about £3 a meal. Would love to go back.
It depends what you want from your holiday. WE went in May when it wasn't too hot and went to relax, but I would like to stay in Paphos or Coral Bay next time so that we are nearer places of interest.
I'm sure you will have a wonderful holiday. The Cypriots are wonderful and friendly.

Hi,
We're thinking of going to Cyprus next year but never been before. There will be four of us, 2 adults and 18yr son and 14yr daughter. Have you any idea if they do interconnecting rooms for families and how expensive it is for two weeks. We'll probably end up going during the summer holidays next year although i know it'll be really hot at that time.
Thanks

We priced a shared 4* hotel room in Paphos B and B and it was £2300 for 4 of us (£575). That was April.
I know some hotels do interconnecting rooms but the price will rise.
Its the room we need now which has encouraged me to book independently.
