We are staying in Lake Buena Vista last 2 weeks in Sept, can anyone recommend somewhere on the coast, west or east, to go visit for 1 night. We dont want more than an hours drive.
If you can suggest good cheap accomodation that would be great.
Hi
You get the choice of going to somewhere like cocoa beach on the Atlantic, which is probably an hour and a half (other Dibbers will fill you in on whether that's worth the trip), or heading the other way to the Gulf coast and going to Clearwater or St Petes, which is what most people tend to do. But that would be best part of 2 hours
But the sea is calm and warm, lots of dolphins, loads of accommodation and good fun - that would be my choice - worth the 2 hour drive

Naples is lovely as is Fort Myers and Sarasotta. All about 3+ hours drive from Orlando though.
Atlantic or Gulf?
For a night's stay, Gulf every time.
An hour or so longer to get there, but worth it!

I really didn't like cocoa beach at all. We were in Orlando in November and went there after Kennedy. It was very empty and they hadn't managed to repair the hurricane damage (admittedly not their fault). I didn't think much of the beach either, and they have sharks!!
Clearwater, was absolutely beautiful though. We went there for the day and loved it. So much we're doing a twin centre there next year :)

We normally have a day at St Pete's and have booked the holiday inn on the beach for 1 night this year so we can stay and watch the sunset.

Got to agree with the Bilmar Beach. My kids have made it their second home.

I would have to recommend the Don Cesar at St Pete beach. It's a bit expensive but maybe possible for one night (I stayed there on DD's staff discount and it was fab)
