Favourite Park has to be Islands of Adventure for Siperman Ride and Popeye's Barges. Then MGM for ToT and RnR.
Best Character meal has to be the Ice Cream Social in the Land at Epcot.
Favourite sight has to be the Castle from the front of the ferry on the first visit to the Magic Kingdom.

Great to be back on the boards.

Hi Everyone, again...

Me Fiona, 36, normally quite sensible and an outdoorsy type, took the children to Dixie Landings for the Holiday of a lifetime in Feb 2001, and found myself addicted to a different type of holiday (not camping, sailing, climbing, skiing or France!!, #Managed to persuade Steve "To go back" as I got such good deals booking independently this year.

Married to DH Steve for nearly 14 (crikey!, years, IT consultant and great husband/father. #Not as keen on Disney.

DD1 Kate, 12, nearly a teen, now at High School!! #So this trip it was appearance that mattered!! #Can be cautious, loves sport

DD2 Laura 9, nutty rollercoaster fan, and a tomboy. #Reads all the time.

DD3 Sally, 5, rules the household, either Tigger or Eeyore. #Full of energy.

Rolo, 21 month Chocolate labrador, my exercise!!

We are lucky and live in a small town in the Cotswolds, so Orlando is very big for us country bumpkins!!

When we met, Paul lived in Crawley, his parents still live there so very handy for Gatwick, and I lived near Bath, so we moved to Newbury, which was in the middle. #We have now moved a few miles down the road and across into Hampshire, where we have recently bought a brand new house. #I work as a Building Society Business Development Manager and Paul is a freelance Broadcast Engineer. #Neither of us has any children, but we do have an Oriental Havana kitten called Mia.

Anyway, enough of my drivel!

Hi,

Well I am Christine married to Allen for 13 years. We have two daughters 8 and 1. We live in Wiltshire and recently moved to a great village away from town life.

We started going to Disney in 1989 for our honeymoon. Back then we didn't know many people that went to Florida, everyone laughed at us wanting to go to Disney for our honeymoon! Well of course they have all been now and understand our love of the place.

We have been a total of 8 times and are due to go back this October. We bought DVC in Feb 1998 and this allows us to holiday more!

Hi all ...

I'm Mindy (42) married to Mark (39) we have one child, Cameron (9).

Mark is a computer consultant (developer) and I am at home.

We also have 2 dogs - Molly a black schnauzer and Conker a welsh terrier (looks like a small airedale).

We've been to Orlando 7 times and like Stu, prefer the theme parks rather than Disney.

Don't know when we are going back again as there are some many other places we want to go in the world. Every time we talk about Florida we say that we won't go back until Cameron is quite a bit older and then we book another holiday. Not sure, if we will do it next year or even the year after. We've been 3 times in just over 2 years and feel over-parked!

Sorry I'm a bit late to this - but I just found you all again!

I am Jackie - what's that got to do with Hamther I hear you ask? Well, that name was coined by a pal of mine in the US when I was pregnant. I told her that if I had a boy, he would be Hamish, if a girl, Heather. So she nicknamed the bump "Hamther".... At least I can be pretty sure it won't be in use when I register on sites!
Anyway I am from Edinburgh, I am 38, married to Brian and we have a 3, soon to be 4 yr old son....Hamish

Brian is an IT manager looking after all the schools in Edinburgh and I manage customer databases for a life/pensions company.

We first went to WDW in 92 on our honeymoon and went every year until Hamish was born. We had a gap for 3 years and then went last May for 3 fab weeks with my m&d.
Unfortunately, this years trip was cancelled as we decided to extend our house and can't afford to do both.
We'll be back though!!

Thanks for bumping this thread Fatman. Missed it first time round.
I'm Sian (44), just separated from husband after 22 years and still living in the same house (!!. until my house purchase goes through in a couple of weeks (trying to sound positive). I have 2 daughters, Ellie 16 and Pip 15 and 2 sons Will 12 and Robin 9. First trip to WDW last December and next trip booked for myself and boys next December.
I'm a relatively recent convert to Disney - I think it's a symptom of mid-life crisis. I even bought 3 soft toys last week and I have never done that in my life!
I am also a Christian - don't ask me how that fits with being separated, I haven't worked that one out yet.

Hello
I'm Joe,
The unofficial member, since I'm American.
But, anywho,
I'm married to the lovely Patricia, 25 years this summer
We have 4 children:
Julie, 21
Tim, 17
Terry 13 and
Emily 9
Also a rabbit at this point, Foo Foo.
We live in Chicago, and I've with the police department 30 years in October. I also write mystery books.
We've been to WDW countless times, but have the advantage over you in that we can drive there.
I/We've been to London 7 or 8 times also, and are planning a semi-grand tour this June of Ireland, London, and Paris.
I enjoy being with this group, but can't figure out what the heck happened to loging in. Never had as much trouble as I did today. Oh well.
I look forward to meeting a bunch of you in June.

Have 2 children, daughter Emma is 14, son Jay is 12. We brought them to Orlando for the first time last July/August 2001 and they ADORED it. However, it cost us so much I don't know when we'll be back again. It was our first trip back since our honeymoon in early 1987, and things had really changed. I'd had one brief trip with my Mum previous to that.

Hi Everyone-

So glad to see you all again- thanks Stu for pointing the way..

I'm Kris (short for Kristine), married to DH Larry for almost 29 years (he just booked us into V & A's for our anniversary dinner).
We have no children, but my brothers and sisters have 11 between them.
Of course the bad news is that we're a 6 1/2 to 7 hour drive from Orlando, so we take a weekend off once a month to go to WDW and decompress from our jobs. DH is a field engineer for a government contractor (after 28 years in the Navy), and I work for the same company in a less important capacity.

Our next trip to Disney is in three weeks.....

Thanks for having me. .

I'm Theresa, aged 35. Married to Graham, aged 42 for 16 years (in Sept). We have one wonderful daughter Dana, (loves Rock 'n' Roller, Tower of Terror and working up to Kracken) who will be 7 in July and a Birman cat called Theo.

I am a Business Analyst and Graham is a bricklayer. We have lived in Luton for the last 15 years, orginally being from Morecambe and Lancaster. We hope to move out of Luton in the next year or so, but I think that depends on Florida!

Our first trip to Florida was April 2000, we have been to Disneyland Paris twice and Orlando again December 2001 and booked for December 2003.

We've been going to Florida every year (but one) since 1989. We skipped the year we got married and instead went to Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort and got married on the beach. We're DVC members and our home resort is OKW - we just love it!!

No kiddies - just DH . and our wee George (ginger and white moggie!!. He adopted us when we moved into our house and we've looked after him ever since.

Whoops - didn't intend for that to be so long. Sorry !! .

Hi everyone,

I am sooooo nosey and love reading what everyone does, here goes ...

I'm Helen (33) and partner Gary 37 today, we have been together for 13 years and have no plans to marry and we don't live together (why spoil a good thing!!. . I prefer it this way as I get loads of pressies and nice holidays. #I live at home with my Mum and my minature Yorkshire Terrier Dylan - who is very cute! #

We have been to WDW five times and are going again in September. I am completely addicted to WDW and America, (and getting addicted to the DIBB) wish I could live there (Gary's brother lives in NYC, maybe I am holding out to marry him!.. #

The first time we went to WDW I was just amazed and go back as often as I can (inbetween visiting other cities in America). #It is true what they say about it being the happiest place on earth, my Dad died in 99 and as a sort of pick me/surprise up Gary booked for us to go and you really can forget all your heartache whilst you are there. #

I work as a secretary for a firm of Chartered Surveyors in Liverpool and Gary works for a housing company.

Nice meeting you all.

Hello and thanks to everyone for your greetings.
I'm absolutely delighted to find i'm number 300.
I'm 42 and work in the freight distribution business.
My wife Sally is a nurse and we have two kids, Jade 9,
and Tim 6.
Sally and i first went to Florida about 10 years ago. I phoned Portland for a £99 cheapie to Austria only to find it had gone.
Instead got 1 week fly-drive and hotel (Best Western Maingate East) for £109 each leaving the following morning. Made all the usual mistakes ie. paid for the car insurance at the desk, bought daily disney passes at the gate, oh and not to mention i actually thought that WDW was in Miami and thats where we were heading.
Since then i'm a confirmed DIYer. We have been for the last three years and usually go towards the end of December for 10-14 days.
1999 Econolodge Hawaiin Maingate, Virgin, Interamerican.
2000 Westridge Villa, BA/US Air, Holidayautos.

No Amazing, you're right. Long story short. when registering for forums and stuff i always find my real name (Tom) is gone, so i used "dag" or if it requires more letters "dagbladet", which if anybody is still reading is a Norwegian newspaper which i happened to be reading when i had to think of a name. To save having dozens of different usernames for the various sites i just use dag...or dagbladet.

Thats it now you all think i'm daft dont you ? .

Hello
We have just been told about this website and we had to join up straight away, so here we are

Brian and Lil have been together for 15 years 2 children, girl 12 and boy 10, we have a westie called Hercules, a cat called Minnie and a bird called Jasper (from Dalmations)

Our house is filled with Disney in every room (it was ok when the children were younger but now they are getting their own tastes and I don't get to put too many Disney things in their rooms).

We loved Disney before we went and when we did the first time was magical and we have a real bug for it now.

We went for the first time in 1998, then went back 6 months later, the following March for Mother-in-Law's 80th Birthday (she loved every minute of it), then in 2000 when we bought our home in Oak Island Cove, which is one of the closest to Disney's Maingate, (it was the closest we could get rather than trying to move in, if I could I would) then back later in 2000 for completion and saw the Christmas parades (which were fantastic) since then due to personal problems haven't been able to get back but are hoping to go next year:jump:

People think we are mad but we love Disney and everything to do with it

I am so pleased that we have found this site to share with other Disney lovers!!

Brian and Lil

I am Mel aged 32 and an administrator for a fashion company.

DH is 37 and is a civil servant

We have 4 (sometimes adorable) children

DS1 - Michael 11 - Is football mad, as well as starting that lovely teenage phase.

DD2 - Paige 9 - Is a football mad tomboy, and her other passion in life is to annoy DD3.

DD3 - Lauren 9 - Is a proper little girl into clothes, makeup and shoes, her only passion is to annoy DD2.

DS4 - Mason 5 - He is the baby (though he hates being told that) is a happy go lucky little fella that doesnt involve himself in the others constant bickering!!!! His passion is Buzz Lightyear.

We had a family holiday to WDW in Nov 2002 and loved it so much we have saved to go again on 7th Nov.

Hi everyone, as you can probably tell, Winnie the Pooh is my hero. I'm aka Val and live in the highlands of Scotland, having moved from the south east of England last year when I retired from work in the city. Have been to WDW for the last 5 years except for last year when holidays went on hold because of the move. Now going in October this year to the Beach Club having booked last May. There are 3 of us going, DD, DGD and myself. Granddaughter is 9 coming on 20 but totally in love with Disney. Really looking forward to staying at Beach Club, have stayed at Wilderness Lodge, Caribbean Beach and Coronado Springs which were all absolutely lovely and once off site which although wonderful, didn't have the magic of WDW.

Hello - very glad to have found this board. I'm Darren, 31 from Sussex. I still say I'm from Sussex despite the fact I moved to North Somerset about 3 years ago, as I still spend a lot of weekends in Sussex - mainly because the 3 Fs are there - family, friends and football (I'm a Brighton season ticket holder).

I'm married to Suzie, and we have a 7 month old daughter - Madison.

I first went to WDW when I was 16 or so. It was a family trip with my parents and sister. We spent 3 weeks in Florida - 2 weeks doing the parks and we were based at the Holiday Inn on I-drive. We then spent a beachy week in Clearwater.

Since then I have visited Florida 5 or 6 times - all, it has to be said, with different girlfriends. Because of this, on my last trip to Florida - in 2000 I think, Suzie (who was my girlfriend at the time) was not overly keen to visit WDW. I kinda understood what she was saying, but I convinced her to take in AK, since I hadn't been there before (because it had not been there before!)

Being a Dad now means I can't wait to see the magic of WDW in the eyes of my daughter and I'm toying with the idea of taking her for the first time later this year - maybe October/November. I've never stayed on Disney property before and I hope to do so - making the Disney magic a 24 hour experience for the first time.

DH Simon 34, claims he's not a computer salesman, but we all know better.

DD Rachel almost 8, has been to Florida 3 times and is rather fond of it ;-)

DS Zak almost 7 months, he's only been the once but loved it none the less and can't wait to go back.

Not to forget our much loved felines, Zatasha & Taslan (Tasha & Taz for short, or if you'd like their full titles, they're Zatasha Anvia & Sashova Taslan - hence the shortened names!) 2 Russian Blue, spoilt rotton cats.

My name's Peter (Peewakio comes from the fact that most Peters in Liverpool generally get the nickname Peewack, the -io on the end stems from my nickname whilst I was on a golfing trip in Spain with my mates). I'm 43 and married to Lynn (40) and gorgeous with 2 boys Luke (15) giant at 6' 3" and size 13 shoes (I'm 6' 3" and didn't stop growing until I was 18 so god knows how tall Luke will end up) and Ben (9) who will end up a similar size to Luke.
This October will be our 4th trip and as much as I love the atmosphere, the rest of the family are rollercoaster nuts and I hate them, so I generally spend most of the three weeks sat on my backside soaking up the atmosphere and people watching.:cool2:

Hi

I use the name "lefthanded" because er....well.....actually....I'm lefthanded.

I'm fiftysomething, married, with grown-up children. My wife and I are going to Florida for 4 weeks next year. Two weeks in Orlando doing all the "busy" things, followed by 2 weeks at St Pete's relaxing. We have booked tickets for Disney, Universal, Discovery Cove (including the dolphins), NASA and Busch Gardens.

We're flying with Virgin Premium Economy, and staying in the Hard Rock Hotel at Orlando, then the Holiday Inn on the beach at St Pete's.

This will be our first trip to the States, but the only thing I am apprehensive about is the driving. I have driven extensively in Europe both for business and pleasure, but always in a British car. I have never driven a LHD, or an automatic.

My wife is disabled - so I will be posting a few questions about the logistics of travelling with a disabled person.

This "Grand Trip" is our way of celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary - 4 years after the event. When it was our actual 25th in 2000, we were too busy with work and other commitments to take a long holiday. Our 29th Anniversary will be the day before we fly back.

Took me a while to find this - too bust with all the great info on the other threads!

I'm 34 (still think i'm 18 though) and am married with no children - who needs them to enjoy disney?

Have been to Orlando 4 times, twice with parents in my childhood and twice with DH in 98 & 2000.

Well and truely hooked, not getting it out of my system anytime soon. Really looking forward to our next trip though as it is with Mum, Dad, DS and my 6 year old nephew, it will be great seeing it through his eyes and for my mum and dad to see how much it has changed.

Love this site.... wish i'd found it earlier .......... just as well i didn't as i spend far too much time on it already!

Hi, I'm brand new here, having looked for a board such as this for a while, and almost having given up hope, a good dose of luck meant I stumbled upon this site tonight.

I'm Gordon, aged 21 from Edinburgh. Currently doing a Computer Science (BSc, Hons) degree at Edinburgh University. Not married, but I have a wonderful girlfriend named Zoe (20) who is doing a Law Degree also at Edinburgh. We have thought about getting married but decided it's a bit early yet, but you never know in a few years.

Unlike many students I am really eager to get out into a job, and my dream occupation would be to work for Pixar (I wish) or Disney, 3D animation being my love (along with traditional).

I'm a massive fan of all things Disney, from the films, to the TV series (many of which I grew up with), characters, parks, resorts...I love it all.

First went to Disney World in summer 2002 (with my mum and brother, unfortunately my dad passed away a couple of years ago), and absolutely loved it, so we went back this year, and are already planning our holiday there for next year. :D

I'm Julie (Jools), married to Billy for 24 years. Son David is 18 and daughter Kayleigh is 16.

We live in Newcastle upon Tyne, although Billy is originally from Scotland. Ever since he hit 40 he's gone by the name of Bill, but I still call him Billy. Still in his mid life crisis he has just bought a big motor bike after 18 years of cars only.

We love Florida, started going in 1995 and visited for the 10th time this year.

I work evening shifts managing a large team of mainly teenagers and get really stressed out. These boards help me chill out and I am often browsing/posting in the early hours.

Great to talk as they say!

HI just found this site from WDWinfo link.
So here goes.

I am Julian (34) part time house husband, part time ODP and studing law at nightclass, dyslexic, hence sorry for the spellings athlough i am really trying to concentrate, Married to DW Maree (37) who is a full time ( inever seem to see her!) anaesthetist. Two DS Benedict (6) and Sebastian (4)
Been to Disneyworld 5 times , own a t/s at Lake Bryan, but have been AWOL from Disney for two years after going on DCL and then getting hooked on cruising, and hence have to find time to get back to Dis as we like the kids clubs so much on cruise lines. Due to go back to WDW next autumn by combining a week with a cruise, as Princess let you fly out when you like so it means if your going to WDW anyway you get a cruise for a week for about 250 pounds ontop of your airfare....

Hi everyone.

I'm Carol, and I must apologise for arriving at this site so late!! I followed a link from a certain other site, and have found many names here that I recognise.

I'm 46 ( oh my, it hurt to say that), my DH is 48, and I have 2 DS, aged 19 and 16. 19 year old has left home and moved in with his girlfriend. 16 year old in 6th Form. I work for the local County Council (in Pensions no less, try and stay awake now!) and my DH is a Paramedic.

We first went to Disney in 1997 (All Stars), 2001 and 2002 at the Rodeway Inn International Drive. Going again at end of November, just the 2of us, probably to Rodeway Inn again. This was meant to be aonce in a lifetime holiday................but it keeps happening!!

I think these forums are brilliant, with everyone being sofriendly and helpful.

Cheers everyone

My turn now!
Just joined Dibb - cant keep off the site when I get chance....
Married to Dave, married in 95, met in 92. Have a handfull of mischief called Matthew - 4. Matty has some learning difficulties but he is a lovely and loving little lad. Bit of a shock to our system but getting used to him and think we will keep him now, although Safeways do offer a refund and replace.........
Been to Orlando 5 times, always stay at the Hilton LBW. Going very soon with Daves mum and my mum - the inlaws and outlaws.
Mattys 3rd time - how lucky is he for a 4 year old. I hit 40 this year but netted a very nice diamond ring and a luxury trip to New York for Christmas shopping to make up for it. Not sure where Dave got the money from as I normally know exactly how much he has in his pockets - a sneaky side coming out......
Live in Notts, work for the Local Authority and I help people.

Just finished reading everyone's introductions so thought I'd add mine:
I'm Dawn, 41 live in Hastings, East Sussex and love the Dibb site.
DH, Phil despairs as I spend way too much time 'dibbing'
DD, Laura (15) is doing GCSE's this year and as a treat once she finishes we are taking her back to Orlando in June 2004.
First went to Disney April 1997 and loved it, went back 2 years later after my and DH's dad's both died (1999) and went again following year (2000)
Since then have been to Michigan twice to visit friends.
I only discovered the site when I was surfing, looking for 'Sweet Tomatoes' restaurant and came across it by accident.
Look forward to lots more fun dibbing.

Hi my turn!

I am Sharon aged 43 married to mark for 17 years. I am a senior Civil Servant and Mark is head of engineering in a manufacturing company. We have two lovely daughters Alex 16 and katie 14.

We all love America. We first visited Orlando in January 1997 and have been back twice more in August 2000 and December 2001. Mark has always dreamed of spending Christmas Day with Spiderman so we have booked for Christmas and new year 2004. We are taking my parents with us, who have never been before, and we are more excited about sharing the fun with them and their seeing their reaction than the actual trip itself.

This year we had a fantastic holiday touring in California/Las Vegas/Grand Canyon/Yosemite and on the way back we stopped in New York for good measure! It was the holiday of a lifetime.

I love this website, like minded friendly people and so informative.

looking forward to getting to know you all better.
