Both of our kids are mesmerised when anything "spacey" (no, not Kevin :D) appears on the telly. The eldest (5) really wants to visit the Space Center this trip, but Im not sure.
DH and I have done it several times, but before the kids were born and before it had a refit (last time we went the big Saturn Rocket was outside the Assembly building, so about 7 years ago I think). I seem to remember it didnt seem particularly well suited to very small children, but wondered if it has changed?
Our youngest will be 3, and he wouldnt cope with the IMAX films or be over impressed with a tour, but would love the bus rides and the Space Shuttle.
Im in two minds whether to take them or not - anyone been recently with little uns that could give an opinion??
Hi Allie,
I have not got little ones any more so have not been with any recently. however when we were there earlier in the year noticed kiddies in the rocket garden. they can climb onto some of them and run through. there was also a water thing, like the ones at Universal and disney where the water shoots around. The kids were enjoying that (as mine did when they were little). there is also the nature rerserve part that would probably appeal to kids, not to mention the armadillos around the place.
Just a few thoughts.

Thanks Jools, I think we will risk a trip. DD was keen to know "if there was a shop" so I know where her priorities lie (she wants an Astronauts outfit :D) and DS will be happy as a clam if there are things to climb on!
I remember when we did the tour on our first trip, we saw the biggest darn Gator EVER! The bus driver said he was 12 feet long and a regular "sun bather" along the road! Didnt know they got that big!

We went last year with friends who had been before. They couldn't believe how much better it was and we just loved it anyway. The Gmex film was awesome and the kids will love it. There is a fantastic shop where I noticed astronaut bomber jackets - not sure about suits but they could have been in the bigger shop
You really should take them

)When we were there in January there were quite a few little one's. The Space Park has quite a few playground type things to sit, ride and run on.
Have just noticed on my KSC T-shirt an address to let you see the products they sell in the shop there and order on-line. So you can get a head start on those kid's space suits, remember their being baby romper space suits (we've been broody a while:wink ).
www.thespaceshop.com is the link.

Thanks Carl! Great link! DD loves the little flight jumpsuits. Thats $50 spent already :D.
I think I NEED to have another baby, simply because I want to buy the "moon & stars" romper....too cute!
Good luck with your "little Tigger" Carl!

we took Katie when she was 3 1/2. She enjoyed the playground, and managed to watch one of the IMAX films (abotu living in space) but wasn't overly happy when the rockets were taking off due to the noise.
We did the bus tour and she fell asleep.... Managed to get her off the bus and look round the first stop, but I didn't go into the bit where they demonstrate a blast-off due to the noise.
At the 2nd stop with the big rocket, we again skipped the film but we had a good look around the hanger and she met an astronaught.
we skipped the third stop due to being exhausted, and back at the base we had a look around the space shuttle and at the memorials.
We had a good day but I wouldn't hurry back with a 3 year old.

Thanks everyone. Very helpful!
I think my son will find the tours a bit of a trial (he hates loud noise like your DD Bev), but if it comes to it, hubby can take DD and I will stay on the bus with him (he LOVES buses :D).
I doubt whether it would a regular thing on our Florida itinerary, but fancy doing something a bit different this year!
megtom8 - wow, you live in Thundersley! I grew up there! Went to Deanes and had a weekend job at the big Halfords!
Moved 8 miles down the road to Basildon now, but all my family are still there! My mum lives opposite the new Virgin gym :D .
